that is my plan to take a day at a time I have never abused I just had a back problem that I think is bearable with out meds `I think i can handel the taper but I have not got down to the lower levels yet which scares me because the one time when I was on tramadol and went cold turkey because I went out of town working and forgot my meds at home It was pure hell and never let up the whole time thats the reason i want to taper off because that about killed me I heard tramadol was just as hard if not harder but honestly I dont know

I was taking anywhere between 80-120 mg oxycodone for 3 years (gradually moved up BC it took more and more) and I stopped all cold turkey! I didn't have the will power to taper off. The first few days were hell, I won't lie. But, everyday has gotten better and it didn't kill me. Tomorrow will be day 9 for me! There were days where it took all I had not to go get a perk, but I didn't and was so proud of my self! If you can taper, it would help. But, if you don't have the will power to taper, just walk away!

Take it one day at a time. Just focus on today. That's what helped me. I didn't think about the next day or week.. I just focused on the present. I told myself every day "I'm gonna be clean today. I can do this"

Ive been sober for about 2 yrs now. I was on methadone, xanax, and percocet. I got off all 3 by slowly tapering every 2 to 3 days. It is always safer to taper under a doctors supervision tho...

A slow taper is the best way to do it. If you have a hard time doing that, you can have someone you trust and doesn't take them hold them for you and only give when you are scheduled to have the next one. You can do this. Tell us what has been going on.
