percoset and methadone with wihdrawl

Hello I have detoxed many times but not off of these two. I have been taking 40mg of methadone and 50mg of percoscet for over a year. I lowered the methadone two just 20mg for 5 days and this is day two with no methadone and 2nd day of no percoeset. I feel like crap but how long until i feel normal again.

I finally did after i found myself doing so much that i almost died. Went for 3 years and have been clean for 6 months. No Methadone went right down to 2 mg and am done. Feels good to be done. But every day is hard and always feel i will slip but go another day and on and on. I am starting to feel myself again so all hang in there it does get better.  John

Do your homework on the methadone clinics!  That seems crazy to me ... it is so hard to get off.  If it is the only way to stay clean, then I guess it may be something to look at, along with suboxone.  But from everything I've read on methadone and suboxone is that both are much tougher to get off than the pills.

One more thing, my friend goes to a methadone clinic and I was wondering if that would be an idea?

I finally had to go the my pain mgt today to get refills. after 10 days I felt like jumping off a bridge, Yesterday I could have just died, could hardly walk. I started taking my ativan to help with panic attacks but relapse again. I take 3 10mg methadone a day and 6 x 10mg percocet. I am just going to go back to my regiment and hope I can try again at a later time. I have missed over a week of work and have to go back and there is no way in hell I could work feeling like this. I drink as well but have only had a few drinks in the last 10 days because i wanted to be clean but I cant do it all at once. Rehab twice I guess wasnt enough. I used to go to pills anonymous and aa never felt at home with that. I tried it for almost 2 months and had a great sponsor but I felt like all I did was let them down with relapse. Life has to get better! Thanks for all the wonderful advice. I actually find methadone to make me feel better than percocet, so when i get the strength again I will once again try.

I must disagree staying on perks is a bad idea. They are way to easy to reach for when not feeling well and the cycle will continue until you find yourself back at a clinic to get off them. The reason you went to methadone was to get off perks i think. Get rid of them and taper off the methadone slowly. I was at 140mg and at 22mg and not happy being on methadone but it sure beats having that bottle close and taking when sick. It is normal to do this i did it for over 7 years and usually 2 then more and more to work. This is just my opinion and being in the methadone program have not touched a pill going on 3 years.I went cold on the oxys and perks and was sick for 22 days in bed and finally relapsed. After a few months got on program and like i said not touched them since. But everyone is different and if you feel you can get rid of perks after methadone great. But remember perks make you feel good and give energy and that is hard to walk from.Good luck in either way you go but just telling you what i have been through. I am sick from tapering off and if there were pills i might just want to be unsick for a couple days but know in my heart in a year would have to start this all over again and one trip of this is enough for me. I wish you all the best

Was at 140mg down to 22mg been on methadone almost 3 years.I was going to fast and when hit 22 got sick. Now only 1 or 2 a week and pray that will make it easier. Went cold on oxys once and i took a lot. Was in bed 22 days and finally gave up. After 6 months went to clinic and was great at first. But Dr should never of let me go to 140. I think 50 or 60 was fine and would not of been on it that long.

what did you doctor give you for the remainder of the week?

yes dehydration is what causes many of the symptoms during detox, it is extremely important to stay hydrated.
water, Gatorade, juices, muscle milk, ensure, boost.
exercise as much as possible, keep yourself busy, move around, this will help with getting your natural brain chemistry repopulating and helps with the depression.
are you going to support groups, counseling, church to help prevent relapse?

Thanks guys I have been in rehab twice when I was doing more opiates but it was a medical detox for a week. Well as we all know years of experience don't change us. Today I had to go to the doctor because after six days I was so dehydrated I thought I was going to die! Today is only day four of nothing but leading up to then I tapered to fast. The depression is what I hate the most I have always suffered from depression but it is at a all time dip! Well the doctor wrote me out for the remainder of the week so hopefully I can feel a little better! Ps should I smoke weed to help

I completely agree with the previous posts I personally would get off the methadone first due to its long half life then work on the percs although all meds have their place methadone in my opinion should be reserved for people who want to kick heroin and even then on a limited basis I was on that stuff for 8yrs and got up to 140 mgs per day then one day me and my wife decided enough was enough my wife did the smart thing by tapering down to 2mgs before jumping I on the other hand did just the opposite tapering only to 110mgs then jumped let me tell you that was an unbelievablely bad experience I stayed awake for 8 days straight before finally getting a few hours sleep not to mention all the other fun things associated with methadone withdrawal so whatever you do pay close attention to what the people on here tell you they will help you do your best to follow their advice and before yo know it you'll be free of that evil drug

HI well it can take a wile for the methadone withdrawal to hit usually 3 to 4 days is normal and it last usually around 7 to 10 days for the physical part to go away the kicker with methadone is the inability to sleep and a debilitating energy crash. on the bright side you only been on it a year when I kicked it I had been on it almost 7 yrs and it took a goood 90 days to start to feel better with only a yr on it you should start to come around in a month or so as for the percs you probablly wont notice much of a difference hang in there and keep posting for support just know it is possible to get free of this stuff there is life after methadone good luck and God bless.........................................Gnarly.........................................

Hey Robby and welcome! Congrats to you for reclaiming your life back! Being a prisoner to pills is no way to live!! You are giving yourself a great gift ❕❗ time frames differ from person to person but alot of people say between days 4-6 they begin to see a very noticeable difference. For me it was around day 8. The physical WD's don't last forever and you will begin feeling better in no time.
