Hi abc, at one time I was up to 420mg of oc's each day for a long time, started out with a simple 20 and worked my way up. I finally decided that 420 mgs was not working anymore, so I checked into a rehab facility. The doc put me on subs for only a week, he never mentioned about dying from withdrawal. I also went cold turkey once and was miserable for 2 months, lost 40 pounds and only could drink ensure. If you cannot afford a rehab or have no insurance, the folks above me mentioned the thomas recipe. I have been clean since april 24th and started drinking energy drinks or the 6 hour energy drink, and it did give me enough energy for a half a day, I took a lot of hot hot baths every half hour, walked, went to meetings and talked to people to help me, and they listened, but we can only help ourselves, and please you are not alone. We have all been there, take it easy, I do not wish luck anymore, just take care of yourself. Your body will love you and you will love yourself once your clean for a few weeks.

Sorry to hear about the setback, but glad to hear you're back on the wagon.

Your analysis of innards and outards had me laughing out loud.  Thanks for the comedy break!  Hang in there!

You will not die ... you may feel like you're going to though ... I am here AGAIN myself ... just a week ago today I was on day 4 of w/d ... my "friend" stopped by and left me some roxy's on my table ... I was on freaking day 4 of w/d and I had a very weak moment ... I bought some more a few days later and here I am back on square 1 / day of roxy/oxy w/d.

I had a literal colon cleanse all morning ... sitting here near Orlando wrapped in a blanket with the space heater aimed at me. I know my guts are gonna be wretching ... so I will do what I did the last time except add do not let any one in my home this time.

Watch dehydration ... no coffee, someone mentioned smart water YES and since you won't feel like leaving to go shopping ... get bananas for spasms ... vanilla pudding ... and lottsa chix noodle/rice soups ... stay bland on just about everything for a few days. Your innards (gut) and "outards" (butt) will thank you. Sleep will come and go ... the more you do the more you will sleep ... borrow a dog, I am serious ... last time my dog MADE me go out for walks ... if you don't have one, borrow one.

I will check back later ... very good luck and God Bless.

You can google the Thomas Recipe or search it on this site.  I used a modified version of it (no prescription sleep aids, add valerian root and melatonin) and am now 48 days out.  Make a plan and work the plan and you can do it!

I'm with Lee on this one.  Withdrawal may be pretty tough, but it isn't deadly and it most certainly is better than a lifetime of addiction.

I was at 180 milligrams of oxies a day when oddly my dealer gave me suboxone, it's a long story i won't bor you with essntially i got perscribed suboxone and in retrospect should have ignored the doctors and just usd it to withdraw with. It made the withdrawl uninpossible. It was still painful and excrutiating but i reminded myself i did this to myself and i can undo it too. The anxiety i felt knowing how hard it would be didn't help but the suboxone cut the jump to the ground of sobriety from the top of the skyscrapr of addiction in half. I still had to jump, just not as far. It's stupid illustration i guess, but you can see what I mean. I would nevr ever suggest that you use sleeping pills to help though! thy are habbit forming, and what you want to avoid is xchanging one addiction for the othr. you have to find your own way but know that the withdrawl will stop, it can't last forevr and it won't. I timed my withdrawl in hours, as in 24, 48, 72, etc., it hlpd a lot, as did distractions like writing or listening to music or walking. Beleive in yourself abov all, you can do it! take benedryl to help you sleep, sit in a hot bath or hot tub, don't give up hope! The withdrawl won't kill you, but the pills will.

I was on OXY for back pain for about 3 years. When I quit and had W/D I didn't sleep for about 5 days. I just treated the symptoms as they occured. Hey, everyone's body is a little different as to how they react. My head buzzed, ears rang, didn't eat. Try drinking Ensure. It comes in the right size cans. It helped me a lot. I prayed a lot. Nobody ever died from lack of sleep and feeling like **** for a few days. After 48 hours it started getting better for me. I will never go on those things again. But keep drinking the Ensure or something like it to get your body what it needs to recover. You'll be okay soon enough. Try different things if you think they will help. I stayed in bed with things to drink (including Encure) and watched movies and shows. After one movie I an two hours closer to clean. DON'T WORRY. Millions of people are going through the same thing you are. Think of the good things. Like, you live in a country that has food banks and charity orginazations that can help. Some of the poor 3rd world nations don't have enough food water and medical to keep them alive like we do. This will soon pass and you will feel GREAT. I know it's hard to believe now, but you can live a normal happy life without drugs. I had to come off of abusing Xanax once. It took months and is dangerous because of sezures. Feel lucky coming off OXYs is a lot quicker and safe!
Good luck (but I think you don't need the luck) as long as you stay away from those things.

I have to agree with Charetti, sounds like the eating disorder was most of her problem. I've not heard of anyone dying from detox. You are on a pretty high dose so if you can taper down a bit might be better but if not, just be prepared. check out the thomas recipe and I still would suggest gatorade or poweraid, also bananas for rls and lots and lots of hot baths with epsom salt, exercise when you can and as often as possible. just getting out in the fresh air seems to help. eat is important, try soft noddles or soup. also might need some immodium. count the hours clean not the days...you can do this. post here often and read other post. know there is usually someone on here all the time if you need to talk. that seems to help alot just talking to someone else going through the same thing.  Please don't let someone scare you into not detoxing. a couple of bad days will be worth a lifetime being clean. Good luck!

*she sure used dying, dead and deadly alot+++

It sounds like the eating disorder had more to do with it.  I have read hundreds of posts on here in preparation for my own wd, and they all say it will be horrid but worth it.  Think of it like the flu, bad when its happening but there will be an end.  Keep reading in here, its an inspiration to me.

I went through them a few months ago and almost died.  I urge you to not go through it alone, although whomever helps you needs to not be afraid, because it won't be pretty.  Sleeping will be difficult, so ambien would be a nice thing to help you get through it.  Also, do not drink Gatorade if you are vomiting...it's the worst and will tear up your throat! Smartwater is about the only thing I could keep down...and then not even that for long.  Afterward I only ate soft fruits and drank tea with honey to soothe my throat. I was very malnourished since I took the pills for weight loss so I didn't have anything inside my body to properly help with the need for fluids and nutrients. Before you withdraw I'd suggest eating healthy and nourishing foods.  During withdraws I sat in a hot bath every 20 minutes for almost 3 days straight so in conjunction with the hot water and my bulimia I ended up shrinking my kidneys and had kidney failure in the ER.  If you have insurance, go ahead and withdraw with medical attention so they can give you sleeping pills and IV fluids.  If you don't have money for outpatient or insurance then be prepared to feel worse than death and possibly almost die unless you ween off a bit first.  The more your body is used to having the drug inside, the worse the withdraws will be.  If you can ween off and do less every week, then stop eventually, your withdraws should be a whole lot less deadly.  If you know a nurse or can go to the hospital then that would be the safest way to get through it.  Admittedly, if I hadn't almost died I may still be doing them, so be sure you're ready to stop because the back and forth withdraws are a worse fate than death...let me know if you need any more info!  :)  Life is good and getting better every day. Good luck!
