quitting with suboxone?

Hello everyone,
I've been on here and posted before. Lately I've just been reading posts. I had a question, how do people who quit norco by using suboxone do? All the websites say no withdrawal...etc.. But I've been clean off and on for months but basically when norco is available I use.. I need something to help lesson the cravings and withdrawal. I can't step away from life and I don't know what to do anymore at the most I'm taking 6 a day. But now I feel like if I take less then four a day.
I want to do this but I don't wanna trade one addiction for another..

i don,t appreciate you jumping down my throat when you don,t know my situation.everyone is different. i,ve had a very hard road with addiction.the 3 yrs i was on suboxone were normal and productive. i quit suboxone ,i was down to 2 mg a day anyway no w/ds  relapse came and i was off to the races again.taking 2 mgs of sub vs a handful of something else makes sense to me regardless its my decision if i choose to go back on subs. i,m trying not too ,i respect your opinion please respect mine.i,ve told no one to take suboxone just giving my opinion how my experience was on it.

Your hunch is right -- taking sub *is* trading one for another.

Your "4 a day" is a PERFECT jump-off dose (you know, "jump off" the train... you know I mean). Don't wait 'till you're back up to 10+ a day...

Find a cool support group (NA, AA, or whatever...it DOES NOT matter). Many truly s*ck, so you have to search around. You'll find one! If you find a good group, you'll WANT to go every day. Then get addicted to something else that's not dangerous (an addict needs something to be addicted to). I got me a cappucino machine.

Thanks everyone for your kind words and encouragement. I have gotten as far as aftercare or therapy but I a looking into that. I want to see a therapist because I think my using comes from other things in my past. I'm using so I'm "comfortably numb" from my problems.
So I'm gonna do therapy and see..

Sorry just to add, i think you will have a much better time detoxing or staying clean without Subs, as it was actually meant for Heroin user's, if your dose is not too high, Subs could have s reverse effect, making you very sick because of its strength : )
Either way, good luck to you !!

Hey there, i can definantly see where Connie is coming from, yes its another detox.
I can also relate to Saspan, as a sub detox patient myself, i would still be using if i hadn't used Subs to get clean. I used the for almost 2 years. Felt great, felt happy, felt normal, got clean.. But, i am still recovering from Subs 10 months later, im still not quite myself.
Subs is a wonderful idea, if you have tried everything in the world to get clean and just cannot get there : )
If all avenue's have failed then its another option !!!
But, its not for the faint hearted : ) (recovery time i mean)
It was originally used for people with a "massive" habit, now it tends to be an option for even the smallest of habit's, which in my opinion, is not the right way !!

Anyway, you have some options, just think long and hard before you turn to Sub's as some people do not w/d in detox, if your lucky !!!
But, the long, slow road to recovery can be a mental challenge in itself !!!

But, i am with Connie in her opinion, but also Saspan's opinion !!!

Nobody tell ME off please : )
Good luck with your recovery xx

i,m not advising you too take anything. from your comments 6 a day should be relatively easy to kick ,and no imho you don,t need subs. you will need aftercare just like i need aftercare. i,m detoxing from hydros and oxys and i,m trying to give up all opiates. my opinion on suboxone was my experience i have struggled and relapsed too many times to count. everyone has a different experience. success is measured in what keeps you clean.    hope you do well !

As a heavy hydrocodone user who made the HUGE mistake of going on suboxone (ignorantly I might add) for 28 days....DON'T DO IT.

You are only (at the most you said) taking 6 pills a day......if you cut off your access/sources, tell someone close to you that can hold you accountable and get into some therapy/counseling/aftercare.....you will do just GREAT!!  Have you tried all 3 of those things yet?

Are you advising the original poster to take suboxone?  You say it gave you a normal life for 3 yrs yet forgot to tell them you find yourself detoxing again and are on Day 4 again, right?

NO, HE|| NO.

try wellbutrin and get into aftercare.  strengthen your spirit, your inner self,

suboxone is helpful for people who have spent their life shooting heroin, etc NOT for opiate pill abuse

a l ot of people here don,t advise taking suboxone, i was on it for 3 yrs and it gave me a normal life. it did,nt make me high but it kept me off any other pill i had previously had been taking. i started out at 8 mgs and got by on 2 mgs some days i would even forget to take my morning dose. the drs at the rehab told me its something like 3 out of 10 will be successful in recovery.suboxone is a viable option for the addict that just don,t get it. this is just my opinion but i was on it for over 3 yrs. jmho

Don't do it!
After about 9 months of daily hydro use, I went back to the prescribing doc and said I want off, knowing he would prescribe suboxone. I did 12 days on suboxone, stopped and then three days later, you guessed it, sick as a dog for two weeks. I relapsed a few times and am now back to no hydros. This time without suboxone.
Hydro withdrawal can be very unpleasant and scary if you don't know what to expect, but 99% is mental. Even people with multi-year habits manage to come through it in about a week. Suboxone takes way, way longer.
You should find the Thomas recipe and just hunker down. Usually day 3 is the worst and from then out it gets slowly better. Trust me, skip the suboxone!
