should I not dose my last 1mg methadone thurs. if I have a suboxone appt 2 hours later

I just went to the suboxone.com website and did some reading.  I am supposed to get my last methadone dose of 1mg thursday morning.  Then a couple of hours later I have my suboxone doctor appointment.  Should I just skip that last dose because it says to be in mild to moderate withdrawal and they will give your first dose of sub at the doctors office.  I've also been taking some vicodin to ease the withdrawals I've already been feeling.

Ive  tapered down to 2 1/2 mgs of methadone a day.  I hate it- i want to stop more than anything.  I started 2 years ago because of a painful C-section and mastitis.  I am trying to taper to nothing-i'm almost out. No money for treatment and no one knows about it.  Cannot tell anyone!  How can I ease the wds?  It's so much worse than I thought.  I am so run down!

I've been tapering down 1mg a day from 40mg max.  today was 4mg and I called the doc back and he said to make weds my last dose (2mg).  that should be about 26-28 hours.  Is that enough time ?

1 mg of methadone is really low so maybe the rules change....If the sub doctor knows then evrything should be fine. If the sub doctor does not know and your just making the call on your own then i hope you really research as much as you can before hand...

Good luck and keep us posted.

Make sure your doctor is fully aware of your methadone use, and make sure to follow his/her instructions very carefully. I dont want to make the transition sound so easy, everyone is different so make sure you are in full withdrawl before taking suboxone. Again good luck.

When switching from methadone to suboxone, you have to wait a minimum of 36-48hrs and/or be in moderate to severe withdrawl before taking sub. Just a question, are you really taking 1mg of methadone? Typically people who do switch have to taper down to 30-40mgs before switching, if you are only taking 1mg it may be a whole lot easier to just continue and quit methadone. Anyways point being before you can take a dose of the suboxone you will need to wait about 48hrs after your last dose of methadone. You may be able to start earlier if you are having bad withdrawls, and your at such a low dose of methadone. Either way you should stick around here for any questions or support that you could gain from. Hope all goes well, Good Luck!

Please whatever you do tell your doctor when your last dose of methadone was.  My friend took methadone one day and sub the next, she went into horrible wds. This is a dangerous transition, not so much with pain killers as long as you wait about 12 hrs after your last pill , but the  methadone is a different situation. If i were you i would call the doctor, and tell him, that way you might be prepared if you need to wait a day or two before being treated, that would be safer, than going into precipitated wds.

Your going to find out the hard way what seritonin overdose feels like......If you have not...make sur you tell the sub doctor about the methadone.
You have to go 12 hours at min from any opiate before you take suboxone or subutex and longer with methadone.
If you only have a couple hours from last methadone when you start suboxone....you will deff be on here talking about feeling worse then you ever have in your life.

I hope this works out for you though....Subutex/suboxone saved my life and when used right it is great.

I didnt wait long enough once after opiate to start suboxone.....i was like throwing up out the window whil driving and head was pounding ....It is real bad and some people then think its the suboxone and then sub's get a bad name/

you should definitely skip that last does of methadone.  you need to be feeling like hell when you get to the sub doc.  this way you can accurately feel the effects of the sub and when your dose is enough.  it works pretty quickly to ease the withdrawal.  going in there 2 hours after methadone could precipitate withdrawal (put you into severe withdrawal with no way to stop it for a while) which is horrific and at the least you wont know how the sub is affecting you and could get put on too high a dose.  the less mg the better.
