sleeping WITHOUT xanax

Ok, with my past attempts to stop xanax, day 4 is usually where I lose it.  But this time feels way different.  My energy still isn't 100%, but I am NOT anxious! Or in a major depression!  And I slept.  I swear I think it is all because my pyschirist called me out on my last visit & told me I don't need ANY pills to sleep so get that out of my head.  Really?  Ever since then I have not been worrying about whether or not I was going to get to sleep and I have been sleeping.  WTF, is THAT all it took?

OH man do I remember that feeling about being so angry at my Dr. (actually there were a few Dr.'s...) - I refused to believe I could live life without the pills.  Wouldn't even consider it.  Funny when you look back now and think "who the hell WAS that person??" - life returned to normal - the good stuff and the bad stuff.  But dealing with all of it with a clear head is priceless and something I will never take for granted again.

See it as a blessing.  And if you find this Dr. isn't right for you in the end, you have every right to find one who is.  We have to be an advocate for ourselves.   Keep the faith girl.

thank u so much, you have been so supportive.  I hope this hasn't just been a fluke or something, but I got a full night sleep for the first time in all very long time.  I was so mad at my doctor too at the visit when she refused to give me any more sleeping medication after I poured out my heart & soul about taking the unprescribed xanax. She did end up writing me a script for some off the wall antidepressant to take with the one I am currently on that she said should make me sleepy, but after researching it first I decided not to take it.  I think she only did that because I wouldn't stop obsessing about not being able to sleep.  I guess she did me a favor after all.  Because u are right, there is nothing like a real night sleep.

Hmm... maybe.  The mind is very powerful so it's possible.  I'm so happy to hear you had a good night's sleep.  Sleep changes the way we see everything doesn't it?  I remember that first real night of sleep I had and I woke up feeling like I used to when I was a kid.  That really restful sleep where you look refreshed and even your skin looks better upon waking.  You're ready to get up and get moving with your day.  LOVE that feeling.

Keep going akita - I have faith in you!
