suboxone withdrawl

Does anybody know a good way to get off of suboxone. I have been off of it for 3 yrs now. My doctor has me taking 8 1/2 milligrams a day. I was taking two 8mill a day before. Since I went down I am having some withdrawl. Is there any medication I can take (over the counter) to help with these symptoms? Should I quit cold turkey and just do it??? Please help me

I tapered down all the way down to 1 mg and I'm pretty sure I took a half for several days too.  I was on 32 mgs at one point.  there will be withdrawls.  I had some...  fairly mild though, if you taper real real low.  I got off cymbalta, subs, and topamax within about 3 months span...  life is WAY better.  I'm in a 12 step program. i would advise against cold turkey unless you want a world of pain.. for long term sub use, a long, slow taper is the best. Look at the "Health PAges" on the upper right and there are a lot of articles on Sub and tapering off...  on the dose you are on, not adviseable to go cold turkey but slowly taper down. We can't offer specific tapers, best to use a doctor which is what i did... and yes, there are things to take with w/d symptoms which are also found in the Health Pages. If you talk to your doctor and tell them you may also get prescription meds to help with the w/d symptoms such as clonidine (blood pressure med for "flu-like" symptoms), a muscle relaxer, or other things.

I would tell your doc what you want to do - but please research and read other people's experiences so you dont end up being miserable. I've heard people tapering for months to get down below 1mg before jumping off...
