CAN ANYONE HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM?

I am at 8 days clean and I am having very little if any physical w/d symptoms, but the past 2 days I have such anger that I just can't seem to get over.  The first few days of my recovery I was in such a good mood, which was a little surprising to me, but I was happy to have it.  But now, without any reason, I am just so pissed.  I have a lot of info on PAWS and am thinking that is what is starting now.  According to my material, it starts at between 7-14 days clean.  Does anyone think that's what it might be and how I can help myself?

Thank you for all of the suggestions and help.  It helps to know what your body is going through and that it is normal.  And I am definately going to hang in there, I have not come this far to give up.  Not this time.

Thanks for all of the support, it's great to communicate with people who know what I'm going through and have such great wisdom,

Thank you all so much.

excercise does help and im serious when i say get a punching bag. it's excercise and after hitting something for a bit that anger will go away. your at 8 days and that is great, but your going through a lot of changes right now mentally and so many emotions happen. i was angry the first month cause i forgot what life was like sober. you have done great and it's normal to feel angry at times. hang in there.

I quit ct 3 weeks ago and have none of the problems you are talking about so you might be almost out of the woods if you can just hang in there a little longer.

Exercise helps get the endorphins going to. They are similar to dopamine in mood and energy. Exercise also gets the toxins moving out of you faster. Drink extra water, too!

Well, as you know everyone is different and what they experience is different as well. I am not sure if you will feel better after two weeks or before. It all depends on you, how long you have been using and how much. Even if I knew all that I couldn't give you an exact time frame. But I can tell you that it will come back. And this edgy feeling is from the lack of seratonin/dopamine. As I said, there are amino's/vitamins you can take to help restore what you have damaged more quickly and effectively.

Good luck.

Thanks for that info.  that really makes sense with what I was feeling.  Any idea on how long this "i want to punch someone in the face" feeling will last?  I have heard that people feel better after two weeks, is that the point this may turn around a little?

I wish I would get the dopamine dump. Just a little hope/happyness would be great. Congrats on day 8.

What you experienced was the "dopamine dump". Its part of the detox process. What happens is when you abruptly quit using, your brain is trying to function without the opiates. And it releases a large amount of dopamine all at once. Leaving the addict to think "wow, I feel good, I feel happy without the help of pills" and you think its going to be great. And while one day it will be great again, the opposite takes place and the natural dopamine is gone. It will restore itself in time. If you look up amino therapy there are some natural vitamins to help restore it a little quicker.

Its normal and happens to every addict whether they realize it or not. Good luck..
