Should I go on subs

I cannot get off these tramadol.  I've tapered but am terrified of withdrawals so I've been staying on 4 a day. Should I talk to my therapist about getting on subs? Short term

I often take ten a day so naturally I always run out! It's a ***** and a duuuuuuhhhh moment! But addiction is not logical, feel good today rather then worry about withdraw tomorrow, it's insane

Ahhhh tramadol the safe alternative to hydros (NOT)... I have been on them for five years and they help with back pain but they numb everything else and I still have pain! Is your sex life and family worth a pill? Many people think they are better with the pill but in a lot a ways you loose yourself. Who you are! Withdraws suck *** and I am on day two, hot tuben sex and soma help a lot and a very understanding nurse / girlfriend!

Iam pulling for you, iam brand new to life without tramadol ( 2 weeks out ). You can do it, it's hell but you can make it. Immodium was my best friend and if possible something to help you sleep at night. My Dr gave me Xanax to help w sleep. I also had an awful time w restless leg syndrome, hylands restful leg tablets helped a bit. Hang in there. Right now Iam struggling w the mental addiction, the mood and craving the pick me up.

How is your taper going?  Are you doing OK or do you need to find someone to "dispense" them to you?  We're all pulling for you!

Cheers,

I'll try to be brief since you already have your answer.

I think the WDs are the SECOND hardest part of getting clean.  Worse than WDs is the depression and loss of energy that comes after the WDs.  I think more of us fail there.  The depression and energy loss is roughly twice as long from subs than most other opiates.

Pick your poison (medicine) :-)

I was addicted to trams for years, took up to 20 a day until I started taking harder opiates. I got clean and would never recommend subs for a 200mg habit. It will only dig you into addiction deeper. Clonidine really helps withdrawal, we also tend to make it a much bigger deal in our minds than it really is which makes it seem worse.

There is no way around the wd's but you can lessen them by tapering.  Take it slow as this isnt a race.

IMO, no I'd stay away from the subs. I was addicted to trams, they are h*ll to come off of, but in this case the trams are definitely the lesser of the two evils. I've heard many horror stories about subs. Keep trying to taper off them, your still gonna have withdrawals, but maybe they won't be as intense?? Just stay strong, it's rough but you can do it. There's no way around those dreaded withdrawals.  Good luck to you!!!

You can do this. Try adding one has ur to when you take  your next dose. One hour. And every week to 2 you add another hour. I'm not sure your schedule but make it a goal to go from bedtime to morning get up with out one. I got used to that quickly. And it feels great to do it.

You can do this. But try making small steps. Then you can cut them in 1/2.

Hi & Welcome,

Listen, I would NEVER recommend anyone who is using Tramadol to go on a Suboxone program. You have no idea what you are in for. You say short term but believe me, that never works out. You will take the Suboxone, feel like everything is wonderful and stay on it longer than you should. Please reconsider. You can do a taper..many of us have. You just have to stick to your guns and get it done.

Please stick around and listen to people's stories and advice.
