want my life back

Hi everyone. First,thanks...you're an amazing group of very supportive, loving, knowledgeable people!! I feel so well-cared-for by you all. THANK YOU for helping me, while you have your own crap going on!

I'm wondering like, do I need to write down when to eat, establish a bed time... seriously I had no idea how off track I was. I used to have set days for laundry, baking, shopping...WHERE DID MY LIFE GO???

Sorry rambling sorta but if someone sees what I mean please help. It's kinda freaking me out, how little structure there is left in the aftermath...

My house isn't dirty... it's not like that. It's more like I used to GET STUFF DONE and I've been doing only basics and have left behind the stuff that used to make life sweet, like gardening, sewing, stuff...

You'll get back to doing those things that you love!  You have to give it TIME.  That's something that most every member has trouble doing in the beginning!  Patience is hard to come by and so it energy.  Combine the two, and you literally don't wanna do anything!  Try starting with forcing exercise in the mornings to start you day off right.  THEN that will start you day off great, and you'll slowly start to do the things that you love doing! :)  Gotta get that exercise going first. Also talk to your doc about B12 shots if the low energy keeps up.  They can really help!  I have a pregnant friend who is taking them now, and she swears by them! :)

Good luck honey!

I remember after one of my first detoxes I was looking in my office in my filing cabinet and I was just AMAZED (and saddened) at how meticulous I used to be on filing away important stuff. Every vet visit for both if my dogs were filed, warranties, taxes, home purchases, work stuff, receipts, car documents I mean everything. And everything was labeled all perfect I mean I reall took some time keeping that stuff. And after using for a few years I could not even tell you where I had my tax records at around the house. I didn't file anything anymore I just let it sit around in piles moving it around and having it get lost. It was this way for bills and everything. I would forget bills, not pay them whatever who cared as long as I had my pills everything else went by the wayside. It's really a sad state of affairs what these drugs do to us. Every time I have detoxed I just look around at my life and I am totally like WTF was I thinking!?
And that goes for this time as well. The spots I have put myself in and the things I have neglected I just cannot believe.

Hi OK..I am telling a bit of my experience here but we all are different ..I call what you are doing is Soul Seaching..I am going to be 57 in a couple of days and I have been using Substance off & on since I was 14..The opiates 16 years ago led up to a Methadone ride with 2 other meds..I used to get the Buzz and go to work and work on my 2 veg gardens and flowers..Had to chop & stack wood..this had to all be done NOW..and all at the same time..Compulsive Behavior..So I have learned to just take these things in Steps..If I get to anxious this will Trigger my using again..I look at it all in a different way now and it will be done in time..If you used for a long time it takes time for all the Chems in the Brain to balance back..I have 219 days and each month seems like I turn a new corner toward my Recovery..It felt like a fog was lifted and things around me in my first 40 days did not seem like they were real.. So just hang tight this sounds all normal as far as I am concerned..You will get better and more tuned in to yourself..Good Job on the days..
Bless..vickie

Try to get some exercise. This will probably have to be forced but will really pay off if you do it.  Get out and get your heart rate up for thirty minutes. THis will get the endorphins back into your system. These endorphins were exactly what the opiates were falsely supplying

How many days do you have? If it's less than 30 then you probably are still finishing up the mental and energy side of detox.  If it helps to write down things though, like a schedule, then by all means do it.  Don't be hard on yourself or expect too much right now.You will get back to those things and they will be there waiting for you when you do.  Congratulations on your clean time, whatever it is.

I think that totally depends on you but for me it is so helpful to make lists for just about anything. It helps me to stay on track and it is very gratifying to be able cross things off as I go. I can look and see everything that I have accomplished. I think that set days and times for chores may help too. Structure can be a very good thing sometimes.
