hey thanks for the help....this is a little confusing but i wasn't taking all 3 at a time i would take a loratab or a percocet  and a morphine but anyway longer story short....since last tuesday i wrote down everything I've taken and since last wednesday i haven't taken any loratab at all.....only the percocet and morphine and i would go as long as i could without taking a morphine thinking the longer i could go the better....its monday and the only thing I've taken today is at 830 am percocet 10 mg and at 330 i took some liquid tylenol from walgreens and then about 530 i took another percocet...the thing is i haven't taken a morphine since sunday night at 1045.....so almost 24 hours.....if i can get off that one and then work on the last one i BELIEVE I CAN DO IT...i did feel pretty good today and even went out to lunch with mu hubby (no appetite) but i forced it down and then the weather was pretty today and not so cold we even walked around our neighborhood...i pray that i don't crash and feel like crap as most everyone say that you do...i know everyone is different and I've also been doing a lot of praying too...i do feel like i can't do this on my own that i need help from above so thats what I'm asking for is prayers and more prayers.....i do have the i can do this attitude so i hope i can keep this up....im going to see my GP in the morning to see what he thinks i should do next....before this kidney issue and kidney removal i had cut down to 2 morphine and 1-2 loratabs a day then i had to have surgery which thru me off because i had to start taking something else too....so I'm like you i cut back from what he told me to take...so as far as the surgery i think I'm healing fine from it but just keeping a good attitude for all this other.....so appreciate all the good words from you...i WILL keep up the good work....thanks again

You are doing well!! I haven't been on in the past few days because have been very busy, but wanted to see where you were at when I came into work this a.m.  I think you have done great with waiting it out so long in between taking the meds, and give yourself credit for that!  The longer you wait to take one, then the longer you can still go.  Please though, see a different doctor to either adjust, taper, etc....That way you are being seen by a professional.  You asked me about detox?  It can be very challenging, but believe me, you can do it!!!  I was on Percs 10mgs 7 times a day over two years ago, and I began abusing them (as many of us do) because they not only took away the pain in my leg, but they gave me a lot of energy and I liked that!  To make a long story short, my spouse realized I was abusing them and said it's the percs or the marriage and obvisously I threw out the percs.  The fortunate thing was that I did not become addicted!  I went for over two years not even missing them and then this past August I was bitten in the arm by a coyote and BOOM...all muscles and nerves are shot and throbbing.  I am on narco but take as prescribed and actually less than prescribed because I do not want to abuse them nor become addicted.  I did have a choice in the matter when a doc asked if I wanted Percs, but said NO NO NO!  To much of a temptation and don't want to lose a marriage over medications.  BUT, as far as detox goes, yes I feel tapering is the best way to not have as bad of a detox, but you will still have some detox take place.  It feels as if you have a flue/cold, aches, muscles aching, tired, no appetite, acid stomach/nausea...no energy.  BUT, the good news: It passes in a few days!! When I detoxed, it was 3 days and the 4th I was hungry and had more energy, but everyone is different too!  Just prepare yourself MENTALLY that you will detox NO MATTER WHAT, but IT WILL PASS!!  It really is mind over matter.  Take hot baths, keep with regular activities like cleaning, reading, leisure things you enjoy and honestly, sleep and nap.  I actually would take 2 baths a day plus a shower just so I felt a bit better.  It *****! It really does, but keep thinking positive and keep thinking to yourself that it will go away and you will gain energy and hunger.  I don't know how much medication you really need, but it does sound like WAY TOO MUCH opiates and you don't want to be on them for life.  If you do get a different doctor, see if he/she can maybe bring you down to ONE of the meds instead of so many.  AND, take AS needed!!  OR, if say 3 or 4 are prescribed a day, take one or 2.  Just try and see if you can go as long as you can without one.  Keep that positive attitude.  I allow my prescription to last almost 2 months, instead of having to call my doctor once a month for a refill, and he knows I don't want them long term either, so keep thinking to yourself it will be better!  Keep up the good work!

thanks for your response....i really don't feel that I'm an addict because i never abused the drugs but i do have a lot of medical issues and don't really know what to do with that but i went to a "pain management" doctor with no feelings what so ever and told me to just go to the ER if i couldn't handle it....how crappy of him....to me a pain management doctor should work with you to either manage you or get you off altogether....i plan on making some calls on Monday to try and find someone else with more help than this guy...what i want to do is get some one to tell me exactly how to taper lower and lower to finally be off and if it comes from a doctor thats fine just need a good one...theres not very much choice in my town for pain management....but i hope i can find someone that will help me.....

Hi there,
Have you read all of the replies on this thread?  I did notice you started another one but thought I would reply on this one.
You have serious issues and we can't give you any advice on what you can take.  Only a doctor would be able to do that.  You have so many concerns and they HAVE to be addressed by a doctor.

You said on your other thread that you never abused your meds so you may be dependant on them and not an addict.
If your doctor agrees that you should completely go off your meds and you have withdrawal symptoms we can certainly support you through them but again only a DOCTOR can advise you on what type of home remedies to use.  Don't try and do this yourself and please let us know how you make out.

Please don't add any thing else to the mix like vitamins or nsaids until you get a new doctor to take over your case. You must protect the remaining kidney.  Didn't the doctor recommend someone to take over his patients? You need to be followed closely by a nephrologist.
