weird question about P.A.W.S.

First of all.  I'm on 60 days off oxy today!  WOOHOO!!  Best thing I've ever done!

It's a much different experience than I expected though.  As some of you know I've been battling anxiety during the last couple of months.  The thing is that it has been coming in cycles.  3 weeks was rough 5 weeks was fine and then  7 weeks was tough again.  Last week's gotten much better.

I read somewhere about PAWS (post acute withdrawal syndrome) that there was research that indicated that symptoms could (could!) possibly coincide with the cycles of the moon and strangely enough this is almost a perfect correlation to my anxiety.  No moon and I'm very anxious.  Full moon and I feel great.  As the moon cycles to full I'm getting better and better.

Don't get me wrong I'm a very skeptical person about these things but one more month (or moon cycle) of this and I'll have to consider it.  Has anything like this happened to anyone else?  Or am I just howling at the moon  :)  :)

I am at the PAWS stage also - never even considered that the moon may be involved....it does powerful things to tidal action - the human body is largely made up of water - ???? - I am sure that stranger things have occurred. Will lining my hat with aluminum foil help?

I'm laughing as I write this because I knew I'd sound a little nuts so I'm attaching a cut and paste excerpt from the article I read.  It's actually fairly easy to find if you google "PAWS withdrawl"

Here is the section that caught my attention:

"Exerpted From "Staying Sober" By: Terence T. Gorski
with additions by: Lee Jamison

..... Recent research is showing that for some recovering people the symptoms of PAW often occur at regular "moon cycle" intervals and without apparent outside stressors. Often those 30, 60, 90, 120, 180, and 1 & 2-year sobriety dates seem to be "triggering" times for PAW symptoms to increase".

Oh and the moon is getting bigger.  Half way to full right now and I've been getting better as it has.  Coincidence???  Where's Moulder and Scully?

OWWWWWWWWwwwwwww!!!

Ever been to ER on a full moon. Things are usually crazier.
It was 60 days on the nose when I got hit like a brick with depression. Didn't pay too much attention to cycles before that but it did cycle. Good weeks and bad.
PAWS info is on the Health Pages now too.

I deffinately think the phases of the moon can have an effect on people. Interesting. I wonder when would be a better time to do withdrawels, full moon or not?  Would one or the other make it easier?  Some one needs to do some research.
Not me, I'm tired now.  OWOOOOOO

What's the moon doing now? I had mad anxiety last week and only moderate anxiety this week. I guess the better question is, "What's next week going to be like?"
I found that my anxiety is really tied to my sleep also- 1 or 2 bad nights of sleep will skyrocket my anxiety level the next day. Have you noticed that?

Interesting theory...you'll have to keep track of it and let us know!!!

I know when I worked in the operating room...we used to go up to OB Labor and Delivery and do their c-sections......when you  were on call and it was a full moon you always got called in the middle of the night for c-sections..it never failed...  LOL

so i think there may be something to the cycles of the moon....

I think many things cycle with the moon. People don't often mention it because they are thought to be kookie.  Interesting fact......People that have a tooth pulled on a full moon are 75% more likely to get a dry socket.  I personally have never had the patients to follow the cycles and my mood changes, but sounds like theres something to it.
Just watch out for growth of facial hair . lol     OW OW OWWWWW.  (that was suppose to be howling at the moon)

Well the moon controls the tides on Earth so why can't it control our emotions.  I have never heard of it but you make me interested in researching it.

you are so funny, honestly I giggled at your howling at the moon !!! Fact, humans and animals do go through changes when there is a complete full moon... the word luna translates to crazy !!! the word lunatic comes from Luna...so go figure !! Normally it is when the full moon takes place...my dog for example barks his head off and runs around after his tail.. as for me, well I'm just nuts full time, so I can't help you there !!! lots of love to you xoxoxoxo
