Day 2 of cold turkey

So here I am, never felt so ashamed. Ive been on opiates hard for 4 years or so. Basically whatever I could get my hands on. I also climb trees for a living, so have always had back issues. Recently found out I have several problems, so my addiction has spiraled. Ive been taking anywhere from 15 to 30 percs a day for about 2 years now. Thats an expensive habit that I can only afford because my job is such a skilled position. Luckily I have an amazing wife, who has known something was going on but couldnt quite figure it out. So with a little planning and saving have started my detox. Im scared, right. But I have a family that I love and I need to get through this. Any idea how long til Im ready to go back to work?

It's gonna be a week before you feel any better. Will be rough but you sound like have a good attitude and that makes a big different.

Im going cold turkey, and will be using na. I have imformed my boss whats going on. Part of the problem is that in my field of work, pretty much everyone does something, weed, coke, alcohol, you name it. Including the boss so hes supportive, kinda.

Hi there and welcome!! Congratulations on taking the first couple steps to recovery. How long have you been off work for? Do you have any aftercare planned, like NA,counseling, etc? Having a support network is essential especially at this stage. You've come to the right place for support!! Everyone is different, and detoxes differently. Usually the first 5 days are the worst physically. Then the mental part kicks in,which to me is harder than the physical. But having a support network helps tons. There is a ton of info on the Health Pages here for you to look through. I assuming you're either tapering or going cold turkey? Fill us in a little more so we can help more. Others will bechiming in soon I would imagine. Welcome again, and stay strong!! You can beat this!!
