Hi & Welcome..I want to just say TIME & PATIENCE..We have many on here that came off of the Dones.
My Dones where prescribe to me at the amount you just described. I came clean in Dec of 2012 and it was no walk in the park since I was on them for 12 yrs and before that was the hydo/oxys.
Right now drink LOTS of fluids because Methadone has some long legs and does not like to let go..Meaning it is so synthetic that it binds to the Body and Brain parts. You are going to feel some high anxiety/anxiousness. At this point stay away from the caffeine & sugar. The sleep and no-motivation is going to kick in. The BEST thing to do is try to get out and exercise to redirect your mind and to also get those Chems going in the Brain. Pick up some good vit/min and start taking them..We have to replenish what we have lost during our drug use. The Epsom salt bath will help a lot. Methadone will cause Bone Aches real bad..So take a bath and go lay under a heating blanket..There is so much more I can suggest but for right now just get some of this..Pick up some Electrolyte powder to add to water and get some Protein powder too. When you have some sleep issues just let us know..
I was also snorting mine with adderral (illegal& dumb) becasue the Dr cut me down to 30mg and I wanted them to stretch out a bit..Taking a Klon at night to come down..SO for me the w/ds did not kick in for at least 6-10days..Then it was a Very long time to come around physically but the Mental does take time. The more you can do for your self as far as I have mentioned the better you will bounce back..I think if you are younger you should bounce back quicker. The detox part is hard but it is the easy part in the long run..It is working on staying clean that takes the cake..

Did you get put on the Dones because of other meds or was it prescribed like mine was??
I wish you the Best and just stick around..We will guide you right through the w/ds, But the rest is up to you and how much Support and Work you do to stay clean.
Bless

Hi and welcome to the forum as for your question methadone takes about 3 to 4 days to get to the acute withdrawal.....once it hits it is usually around  10 days to 2 weeks mean wile no sleep and the energy crash hits  I was on 150 mg for 7 yrs and it took around 90 days to get over it methadone is a tuff nut to crack but it is doable did you taper ?? or just  jump keep posting for support we all want to see you get well............Gnarly.................................................

Am on 10mg done...will it help to go to 5 or 2 1/2 before jump or is the long WD inevitable?

I've heard that tapering is the best way to go. Some say they wish they would have just jumped though so it really depends on the person and history of use.
How are you feeling on 10mg? Did you go a few days without and then decide to take the 10mg? Or did you just jump down to 10mg from a higher dose?

Btw, I think the long w/d is inevitable personally. But, your taper may depend on how severe the initial w/d's are.
The lack of energy and sleep is what takes the longest and probably pretty hard to avoid.
