Help with oxy. Will I have withdrawals? What to do?

I had a past issue with vicodin for about a year at 40 to 60 mg per day. Quit cold turkey after realizing they were not for pain anymore and just to deal with the daily issues And wanted to mask and lighten the load on some things going on with my life.
This was four months ago i quit cold turkey. Had awful withdrawals, restless legs were the worst for me..then even worse then that was the five to thirty days of mental fog to the point I thought I was never coming back. But I did and felt wonderful.
I had a gallbladder that burst and landed me in the hospital. My biggest fear was taking the pain pills. I  got home and two days later the pain was so bad I ended back up in the hospital. they found a blockage in the liver duct. Okay so that's the valid reason for pain pills. I was scared to take them again but the pain was horrid. I could not take Tylenol or NSAID (ibprophen) because my liver enzymes were and are so high from the blockage,  oxycodone was prescribed. 10 mg every 4 hours and have been on them for 15 days today no more than 40 mg per day.
I am scared to quit to go through that again. I don't think I need them anymore and can get past the pain on my own. am i more susceptible to have more intense withdrawals since I    had a past issue with vicodin?I have about 13 10 mg oxy left. I don't want to go through the wd again? My question is will I at the time frame I was on them and the amount for "true pain"? I think the wd I went though scared me so bad that I'm afraid to go through it again. I'm rambling and I'm sorry. But can anyone provide a similar circumstance and what you did and if I will have wd? I'm more afraid of the wd than having any pain now. Again 15 days at 30 to 40 mg of oxycodone.  Help please..

I would taper off of them extremely gradually -- cut them in half to make them 5 mg doses.  It will lessen the withdrawal symptoms at the end and be easier psychologically to lessen your fear and anxiety.  See if your doctor will prescribe sinomet(sp) for restless leg syndrome.  You should also consider finding some Imodium AD for the potential of diarrhea that may hit you for a week.  Drink lots of water and sleep as much as possible.  Good luck.  Everything is so much better when you come out the other side.

Will get rid of them today:). Not going back to that mess. I can handle this pain on my own. I can't take Tylenol or ibprophen. I just wish the docs can suggest what to take other than narcotics that won't raise the enzymes any if this gets uncomfortable.  I'm thankful for your comments as I was scared to death to go through paws again. My worst nightmare was having surgery and had to be on narcotics again. I took as prescribed and not even every four hours as prescribed. Why wake up when I'm sleeping to take them if I don't need them. I can see these can be addicting for sure but I made a pact to myself and my life that these will never get the best of me again. I did try to stop a few days ago and got a bit of leg pain but the tummy pain was by far worse from surgery. I thank you... I can handle a mild flu if I get that. Was worried that I got clean and felt wonderful to find myself in emergency surgery. I almost denied surgery due to pain meds but it was a life or death deal.. I'm choosing life both surgical and flushing these pills .....thanks

Hi,
Luckily you've only had one dependency and you seem very aware of what's going on w/you. That said, it takes only short term of usage to re habituate but you're not at a high dose like before. Let go of them now if you're healed and the pain is tolerable. Every day could make a difference. Keep posting. You can do this!

Hi!  Like everyone else has said, if you do have any, they should be very minimal.  Nothing like what you experienced before.  I can understand why you are fearful though.  Nobody wants to experience that nightmare again.  You said you don't feel you need them anymore, so I would just stop taking them altogether.  See how you feel.  Then if you need to use the rest to wean off, you have them.  If you feel ok with minimal discomfort, toss them so they don't call out to you in a moment of weakness.  Glad you are doing better now.  That sounds scary what you went through.

Hello - I agree with all of the above members - it's been such a short amount of time with minimal usage.  Although there is no guarantee because everyone is different, if you do have any w/d's they would probably be very tolerable; nothing like your past experience.  Try not to stress about it - you will get through this.  Hope you feel better very soon (and when you do, I would flush the remaining pills too:))

I agree with painbal, when you don't need them for legit pain, flush them!!  Hopefully you won't have too bad WDs from just the short amount of time you took them. Don't be scared and psych yourself out. Just take one hour at a time and try to stay busy. Good luck! You can get thru this!!

The least amount of oxy's you take the better. When the pain is tolerable flush the remainder of the pills. Hard to do but, the alternative could be worse. Prolly will be minimal wd's. Feel better soon!

I think that you will have very minimal withdrawal and you may not have any. That is not too high of an amount and more importantly a very short term use for real pain.  You may feel a little down for a few days.  It won't be bad.
Don't psych yourself out   .      best wishes   :)
