worst of withdrawl?

When can I expect my Noco withdrawl to be at its worse? I decided to go cold turkey off Norco's 24 hours ago. I increased from 1 to about 6 a day over the past 3 years. I am a 41 year old gal who had a hip replacement about 9 months ago I should have stopped taking them a few weeks after my surgery but I never did and here I am. Scared to death, and knowing that I am both physically and mentally in a dark place. I have a really bad headache and chills. I am starting a new job in one week. One of the reasons I decided to stop now...... I am determined to stop. This is my 1st and only attempt to stop. please tell me what to expect and when its going to be really bad...... thank you. im getting really anxious

Thanks for you words of support.... last night was my 1st night, today is day 2. My boyfriend had to sleep in another room. I sweat and tossed and turned all night. No sleep. I just wish it was this time a week later. I feel so yucky, and dont want anyone to touch me. Im glad you re feeling better. I am finding myself cryng an awful lot and my stomach hurts very much. Alot of shakes too. I am on a high dosage of antibiotics right now because I have strep throat so I am sure that isnt helping either. Thanks again for your support. It helps alot!

Hi -

I'm on my 7th day of detox from oxy & norcos which I've taken for over a year. I was taking over 10 Norco 10/325s when I quit.  For me day 3 was the wost and I started feeling much better at day 4. After that there were ups and downs and lots of emotions. I have exercised a little recently and it has helped. Try to stay positve. Watch some comedys. Use the blogs for support - they are great but don't obsess.  Google the Thomas recipie for opiate withdrawal. That has worked for many. And pray a lot. Today I have to go back to work and I'm certain I'll be able to get through it.  Good luck.

You will probably be over the physical part by the time you start your new job........you will not be 'obviously' sick - stop with the negative and think positive....

ahhh noooo thats really discouaging, but I truly apreciate your honesty. I was hoping that I would at least be over the "obvious" sweats and headaches and bathrooms trips within a week.  After my surgery, I had gotten down to 1 pain killer a day for about a week but I wanted to go on a light hike and do some yoga, and increased the dosage in "anticipation" that my hip would hurt because I wasnt supposed to be doing that excersize yet. And before I knew it, I was taking 6 a day again. I am really dreading whats to come.

Don't lose hope...some people who are in their first WD's get through pretty well, pretty quick. Day 2-4 will probably be the worst and then you should start to feel better. You will physically be feeling much better by day 5-6. So don't sweat the new job, you could be mentally drained, but once you drag yourself out of the house and get 'working' the icky mental part falls away if you have something else to focus on. The very first time I WD'ed it wasnt too bad. There fear of not knowing was the worst, but it was nothing compared to what I am going through this time. Get off now.....while you still have your life. Don't be scared.....EMBRASS your feelings and remember them. You may feel sad and anxious but it will all pass. Don't be scared...that only make it way worse. Get yourself some Immodium AD (it has Loperemide in it which is opiate like but doesn't cross the blood brain barrier but will help your body very much). Get lots of Amino Acids.....reduced Glutithione, L-methithione (sp?), Protien shakes....Get some EmergenC, drink it a few times a day, get some 5-HTP (check with a doc. if you are on SSRI's), get some GABA,  also Benedryl (5-htp, GABA and Benedryl can help with drowsiness-also the 5-HTP helps with serotonin in your brain). If you are into natural OTC stuff, look into Valerian Root too. Even if you feel icky, get out and excercise....it really helps your body produce it's own endorphins....which your body has down regulated making at this point.

Stay positive and keep posting. Don't let your brain fake you into using again. I'm many years into this and it ***** to be me. I barely wanted to live for a while. Don't do it...........

Stay strong and keep posting..

its different for everyone, could be day 3 then day 6 then 10 it all depends on what your on and how long you been taking them, day 4 (and thats not pill w/d but heroin, same thing to me) but ya day 4 is the worst for me, but some people take weeks to feel better i see people still struggling with narcs on here after day 10 so hard to say

since you have been on them for so long... i will give you my opinion. The headache and chills will worsen, you will have hot/cold sweats. You will  be nauseated, diahreah and possibly vomiting.  I believe it will be the worst on day3-4 . i dont think you will feel fully well within 6 days, i hope you do.  Drink lots of fluids, you wont be able to sleep. Baths will help a little. i have had withdrawals several times, so am speaking from experience. You will feel anxious, possible anxiety attacks and you may just plain feel like dying, but you wont. Good luck going cold turkey~ I wll be praying for you!
