38 weeks pregnant with DDD taking oxycodone

Hi..this is my first post on this site. Looked like people really knew what they were talking about, so I figured maybe I could get some answers. Long story, but I have degenerative disc disease, bulging discs, and arthritis..and I am due to have my baby boy next Tuesday. I have gone through breast reduction surg, epidural steriod shots, chiros, therapy..etc etc. My OB gave me tylox and percs to take for my back during the pregnancy..and also referred me to pain mgmt. My mistake was that I didnt let them know I was pregnant, and was prescribed oxycodone 30 mg and ms contin 15 mg. I had someone call cps on me (anonymously), and report me as having a substance abuse problem. Mind you I have had this crippling pain for almost 15 years. Not to make my question a mile long, but my OB said that in a case like mine, we ith the condition my back is in, and the amount of pain I have ( there are days i cant get put of bed its so bad), that my baby gets very little if any of the meds, as long as its taken as prescribed. I am down to maybe 1 30 mg a day now if that..due to cps telling me they will take my baby from my custody if he tests positive when hes born. I am absolutely terrified of this happening, but I cant function, and live life everyday with the pain. My OB told me today there is nothing they can do since I have legit/ legal scripts, and they know everything. Im hoping someone can help me with an answer..I dont know what to do. Im on day 2 with no meds..and like I said I would only take maybe 1 a day recently if I was having a really bad pain day. Will he test positive or go thru any type of wd's? Im trusting what my OB said about the meds going to the point intended  and not to him. Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

When I get outta the hospital Im going to look for alternitive ways to live wirh my condition..for myself ,and my feamily. Thanks for your response!!

Opiate pain medicine has most of the people in America addicted. You have to be strong I know how it feels. After the baby is born go to a suboxone doctor it makes you feel the same as the meds and helps with pain also but you can live again. Try going to a chiropractor and take yoga they really will help with the pain and its safer for your liver and kidneys. Just talk to your doctor like I said in my last question. Just don't stop like I said it will be more harmful. Your baby will more than likely be addicted if your doctor thinks tapering off will help. Maybe you should also talk to a specialist in addition.

You are supposed to stop taking all opiates by tapering off 8 weeks before the baby is born so the baby won't be addicted. The hospital will probably keep the baby to detox when he's born. I went threw a similar situation but I cold turkeyed my meds at 6 weeks pregnant. DO NOT just stop taking the meds it will harm the baby more at this point. Talk to your doctor about tapering off.
