Cortisol testing

I had my annual endo. Appt. in Feb. and I told him coffee was making me tired. He checked my cortisol level. It was 4.4 at 2pm. He says they are low and wants to do a 0,30,60 stimulation test to see what's going on. The problem is I have to go off Advair for a week before the test, but I can't do it. I have moderate asthma, but constant. Since my appt. my symptoms have gotten worse. Dizziness, muscle weakness and pain,  and fatigue. I don't know if there are any other tests they can do while I'm on Advair. I would like to figure out what's going on and feel better. He also thinks the Advair or the predisone I've taken in the past that caused the cortisol to drop. I'm at a loss.

Go to your lung doc and work out that you need to get off the advair and on to a non-steroid medication. Get stable on the med and then you can do the stim test.

As for the cause... The advair could contribute to it but those doses are pretty low especially since you are moderate asthma. Testing in the afternoon is... Not so great. Morning or midnight times are diagnostic. Cortisol is supposed to drop in the afternoon.

I was low during the day and I had high cortisol. You need much more testing. But it is hard to test when you are on steroids.
