Low DHEA

my blood work showed  my DHEA 78 & normal is between 102-1185, when asked doctor about this she didn't know why, thought there was a supplement for this.  Asked Endocrinologist, he said it was nothing to be concerned about.    So, whats up????  I've been battling weight gain for the past 3 years.  Feel that there is really something wrong with my adrenal glands.they have tested me for Cushings (negative), scooped me from 1 end and the other. So, after 3 doctors told me  DHEA  wasn't important I dropped it. Recently I was going through paperwork & found my blood test & figured I'd look it up on the internet. My question is since I'm so low should I just start taking the supplement?

OH  they also found I have four cysts on my liver, again told they are small & of no concern....sorry I didn't add that to my original post

There is an OTC supplement for this.
What do you know about DHEA? It is a precursor  hormone - so it becomes either testosterone or estrogen. It can be low for many reasons - but were any other androgen tests done as well that were off like estrogen or testosterone? If you take DHEA, you will likely raise those levels. It can have unwanted side effects in that case. Was LH or FSH tested? Any other adrenal hormones like renin, aldosterone, cortisol, ACTH tested? How were you tested for Cushing's? Did they at least follow the guidelines and test you three times?  I had Cushing's - it can be very difficult to diagnose.

I don't know much about the liver cysts so that I cannot comment on.
