What is going on with me?

Hi,
I hope someone has or has had similar.......
I have had aches and pains since May 08. Around this time, I had a large patch of darkening skin developing around a parathyroidectomy scar on my throat, as well as on my arms, and pain in my left kidney (I was born with just the left kidney) after 6 months going to Guys endocrine unit, apparently there is nothing wrong with me. Although some hormones levels are too high others are too low and potassium is slightly raised. Conclusion from my GP.... perimenopause and nothing they can help me with. So why do I have good days and bad days? On the bad days the kidney hurts quite severely, I'm extremely nauseus, exhausted, dizzy if I turn my head too quickly to the side, and have shooting pains in my extremities. Is this really how bad perimenopause feels?

Darkening skin can be glucose (usually around the back or neck, joints) or I have high ACTH and I have dark skin all over (with lovely age spots thrown in).

You should see a doctor. A competent one. I know it is hard - it took me a long time to find one.

Shooting pains, dizziness and low hormone levels (including thyroid) often go along with fibromyalgia.

ask your pa to do an mri and look at your pituitary gland and stalk. this may be where the problem lies.

Since you had a parathyroid surgery - I think looking at that is important as the labs Laura suggested are too.

If you can - post over on the Thyroid forum and request a member Thypatient to respond. She would be able to comment if her situation matches any of yours with her surgery.

I would highly suggest getting a complete saliva hormone panel done. ZRT labs is a reputable company online that you can order from and there are others. Just make sure you do a complete one. It will show if you have adrenal fatigue as well, which can cause a lot of joint pain and dizziness.
