Anyone ever hear of a HalfWay house???

How long does someone stay at one for? What are the rules about visitors like how often do they get to see them? Are they ever allowed to leave for a daytrip? Sorry for all the questions my mom went to detox and now she is in rehab for 30 days then a half way house so I wanted to know how long it will take for her to come back. I miss her alot and I don't know when if ever where going to be able to see her at the halfwayhouse. She is there for alcoholism and has depression and anxiety. She is taking meds for that though. Any answers, experiences, anything would help tons

My son lived in a 3/4 house and a half-way house. We could take my son out to lunch, and/or visit any time we wanted to. They're designed to help the person in recovery by creating a clean and sober environment with other clean and sober people. A person trying to recover coming directly out of a treatment center and going right back into the exact environment won't work out very well. In order to recover we need complete change in our lives. Half-way houses have sets of rules, usually about visiting old haunts and drinking/using buddies.  

Part of my AA program involves helping others. Right now I take a guy I sponsor back and forth to the meetings I go to from his half-way house. He lost his driver's license from a drunk driving conviction. I never had a problem with the home management, but I always show them a great amount of respect. They're the people in charge of the home. I'm just a visitor.

This is a bad time in your life right now. Always remember, it won't be this way the rest of your life. Take it one day at a time.
