medicating

Why would a physician give Lorazapam and Oxycodone to a patient who has severe liver damage and also has a history as a youth to drug addiction, and recent serious alcohol addiction that caused the liver damage in the first place??

Hi. Do you mean she claimed she was in more pain than she actually was? There are many conditions that can cause anywhere from 1 to 10 on the pain scale depending on the individual.sometimes it can be approximated by things like increased blood pressure but for the most part it is based on the patient's description. Additionaly, there are still those, even in the medical field, who have a poor understanding of chemical dependency. Ultimately it is the patient's responsibility to inform their physicians and make the right decisions. Take care, GM

Yes, she told them of her addictive history but lied about being in pain.    The medical field often deals with the body until it involves the brain, which confuses me since it is the most complicated organ of the body.

Like Sara asked, is the doctor aware of such circumstances? If so, have other non- controlled -medications been tried? Please advise, GM
