red meat allergy?

For several years I have had mild to severe cases of hives approximately 4 hours after eating red meat. Could this be due to additives in the meat?

my sister recently tested positive as allergic to beef. I did some research- apparently it's not unheard of, and many people with milk allergies are also allergic to beef.

i have always been allergic to meat (pork, beef and lamb) i have avoided it since i was 3!! a few years ago i had surgery - and told my surgeon and aneathitist about my allergy (i had already refused heparin based blood thinners) they laughed at me and told me it was not significant - i tried to explain it was as i could not have gelifusin as i was allergic to it - they gave me any way and i had an anaphalic shock!! it can become serious!

Hi and welcome.  I'm a mom to children with severe food allergies .. somebody once told me that meat can contain caseine as a preservative ???   that is a derivative of caseine which is milk protein.

Hope this helps.

WELCOME!
