Affects of prescription

My partner is taking 30mg/500mg co codamol , with 5mg diazepam for a back injury as his back gave way out of the blue and in severe pain, but this prescription is just making him drowsy and hardly making any difference to him being able to barely move due to pain, but his left side of his face has now swollen so this surely must be an effect from his prescription?

Yes, it could be. This is a couple of days ago - has he talked to his doctor by now? How is he? If he hasn't talked to his doctor, he really, really should.
