Any ideas why I have reoccurring hives ?

Came home one day and noticed I was breaking out in hives right below my belly button , as I itched more it would show up where ever I would itch , if I left it alone they would disappear in a few hours . This continued for 3 days until I went to the emergency room where they classified it as hives and gave me a steroid shot , the Doctor classified it as hives but could it be From a std or hiv ? The hives slowly calmed down but it lasted two weeks showing up where ever I would itch my skin . If I itched my arm they would show up and disappear . Any ideas ? I’ve never had this before

Why would you suspect herpes or HIV? Do you have risks for those?

A lot of cases of hives are considered ideopathic, where the cause is unknown. HIV and herpes aren't known to cause hives. Herpes would only give you oral or genital symptoms - wherever you had the infection. It's not a systemic (meaning full body) infection.

Stress can also cause hives. I mean, with everything going on, it seems silly to ask if you're facing more stress, but are you?

You might have been exposed to something during those two weeks that you weren't even aware of that was causing an allergy. You might also never know.
