Balloon sinoplasty

I have suffered sinus issues for nearly 3 years now and its got quite chronic now,, developed asthma, constant headaches etc...been to see an ent who said the issue was my lungs...got the checked and now discover it is blocked nose and polyps, but he says they are not enough of them to warrant an operation..!  I constantly cough, cant really hold a discussion without being out of breath...My job is suffering..(teacher)  a friend recently gave me an article on Ballon sinoplasty and it is suppoosed to be very effective in treating sinus issues...i am seeing my ENT on Thursday and will be asking to have this treatment....has anyone heard of it or familiar with the operation etc...would love to hear from anyone....I feel the sinus issues are making me  feel really fed up and its now disturbing my sleep, my home life and social life....

Hi thanks for the comments and information, I have seen the ENT consultant who is going to perform the operation but not the balloon sinuplasty.  He suggested FESS rather than the latter and said the balloon would not be approriate for me, I was not feeling very well as I have broken 2 more ribs from coughing and did not question why one was better than the other...do you have any views on this...I thought it may be due to me having polyps and the opening of the nasal passages are narrow!  not really sure on this one...but feel a bit unsure about recovery time and the pain it will cause....

Hi,
Balloon sinuplasty is a widely used technique these days for treating recurrent sinusitis. Statistics show that symptoms relief achieved through this process stays for upto 2 years. Balloon sinuplasty is a endoscopic procedure which involves a small flexible sinus balloon for dilating the previously blocked nasal passage, restoring normal sinus drainage. There are reported complications with this procedure, recovery is early and can also be done under local anesthesia.
