Cold after staying over someones house

Every time i seem to sleep over a friends house I end up ill for the next few days, with a cold, blocked nose, sneezing etc. I generally end up sleeping on the couch or something similar.

Any idea of why this is? and how to prevent it in future?

"Very interesting comment by doctornee Medical!! Thanks for your great advices. As mentioned probably you have an allergy to something in others people houses that obviously is not in your house. The best choice as written by doctornee is to get an allergy test, it might reveal if you have been allergic to something all your life but really never noticed it. Another option is to really be aware when you are sleeping in a friends house and analyze what things (plants, pets, air conditioner, dust, shampoo, soap etc) are in that environment that are not in yours.
Thanks!!
and hope to know more about your case :)!!!"

Hi, thanks for the response.
It is not just one friends house where I encounter this problem, it happens at pretty much every friends house I stay over.

Are there any allergy pills or the like that I could take to prevent this in future? or is it something I simply have to put up with?

Hi
Welcome to the forum!
This could be due to an allergen or something that causes allergies in your friend’s house, that you are allergic to. It could be mold from a damp wall, outdoor dampness or AC. It could be a pet. It could be dust mites or smoke from industries close by or pollens nearby.
The only thing you can do is go over these possibilities. Mold can be a likely cause and can be easily detected by people who provide air conditioning service. You can also take an allergy test.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

I get that too! And I have no idea why... maybe because the germs and allergens are very different in other people's homes? i dont know...
