Has anyone had allergies that has caused trouble breathing?

I have severe post nasal drip and sinus swelling and throat swelling with dizziness/lightheadedness this summer and now recently trouble breathing and a cough that has lasted this last month with no improvement or relief, I have it when I wake up during the day and at night. I was given a rescue inhaler which takes the edge off but in no way helps my breathing and I try not to use it bc they say you should only be using it once or twice a week not everyday. I’m seeing a allergist on Monday but I’m wondering has anyone with allergies ever had this? I’m so stressed not being able to breath and get around anymore! Advice and stories would be appreciated!

Fyi never have I been diagnosed with asthma before
