My brother just broke out in hives out of no where also having joint pain.

Hello I am very worried about my brother  he is about 40 years old..never had a problem like this..he is light drinker and he chews tobacco. recently like a month ago I would say he broke out in like hives on his body and is having elbow pain and his ankles are hurting also his knee is hurting. he thought it was a laundry detergent reaction but it seems to be getting worse. He doesn't have insurance on himself. He won't go to a doctor because he doesn't have money to spend on himself. I am vey worried about him maybe if I get some kind of idea of maybe what is going on with him. I can talk him into speanding some of his money on taking himself to a doctor. thank you very much please don't email me on here my email address is ***@****

Well there is no doubt you have a close knit family and love your brother, otherwise you wouldn't be looking for causes to your brothers illness.  Sometimes it might be necessary to have a family intervention and drag him to see someone. Let  him know that his illness isn't only affecting him but everyone in the family.

Thank you for your response. I did forget to mention my brother is under a great deal of stress. With losing his business. Family problems. My mom and I really want him to go to the doctor but he is so stubbon. He will spend money on everyone but himself. My mom has even offered to take him and pay for the visit. He doesn't seem interested in getting help. He thinks it is just going to pass through his body. What if it doesn't and gets worse. I am going to email him your post maybe that will help.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi
Thanks for writing to the forum!
It is not possible to mail you otherwise. Multiple joint pain with rash is seen in SLE, psoriatic arthritis and Hashimotos Thyroiditis. Fibromyalgia, polymayalgia rheumatica and chronic fatigue syndrome are the other possibilities. Gout, though typically affects the great toe, can cause multiple joint pain with rash. Hayfever should also be ruled out. I am sorry to say but exact diagnosis cannot be reached unless your brother follows up with a doctor.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
