Prednisolone and methetrexate

I have been taking prednisolone on off for years for sinusitis/allergies and have read some people have started taking methotrexate for Rheumatoid Arthritis.

Does anyone know if this would also work for chronic sinusitis conditions?

Hello,

Prednisolone has been used in treatment of sinus infections. It can be used in combination with methotrexate but only in sinus pain due to wegener’s granulomatosis. It can not be used in allergic sinusitis due to its various adverse reactions.

Cyclophosphamide is the drug of choice along with prednisolone in wegener’s granulomatosis but methotrexate is used to maintain remission after a person has initially received cyclophosphamide. Methotrexate is usually given for one to two years, after which time if people stay in remission, it is decreased and stopped.

For chronic sinusitis, you can get sinus surgery done.It will be more beneficial.
Hope it helps. Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing.
