Sneezing and Breast Pain

Hello,
Every morning I go through what I call "morning allergies". I'm used to it but a week ago when I was cleaning I encountered alot of dust and had a bad allergy attack. Since that day whenever I sneeze I feel pain in my breast. It fees like prickles or tingles everywhere down to the nipples. Almost as if my milk were coming down but worse. And the pain lingers for a minute or so after the fact that I've sneezed and then my breast feel sore almost like I've been breastfeeding. I haven't breastfed since August last year. But if I try I can still milk. Am I still lactating? Is that right? I'm just confused HELP!

It happens to me sometimes too. It is a noticeable sensation as you described for me as well, but i don't experience pain with it. It kind of feels like an electric charge from the sneeze running through my milk ducts. I haven't had milk for more than 10 years.

Hi, it typically suggests allergic rhinitis which is exaggerated or precipitated during cold season or timing. This condition is sometimes associated with asthma.

The triggering factors like dust, fog, pollens etc. can cause the precipitation of these symptoms. From your history it is clear that you are allergic to dust.

A careful nasal examination, Allergen-specific testing includes Skin testing, Serum tests for allergy, Allergen challenge and as well as Evaluation for concurrent conditions like Sinusitis and Asthma is necessary and it directs further steps for management.

You need to avoid the exposure by covering nose with a cloth, whenever you are exposed to dust.

It should be differentiated from vasomotor rhinitis and Atrophic rhinitis for which consult ENT specialist.

There is also secretion of milk from the breast known as galactorrhea, this happens due to hard stimulation of breast, tight clothing (brassiere), and even contraceptive pill and you have already gone through the initial phase of pregnancy and lactation wherein there is further development of breast.

Please get evaluated for the plasma prolactin level by a gynecologist and further management. Take care and regards.
