Titanium ring causing pain/burning

My husband has a titanium wedding band. Since we got married in September a couple weeks later he started having pain and a burning sensation in that finger, no rash but it seems to get better a day or two after taking the ring off. Anyone have an idea as to the cause? has anyone else had this issue?

It IS possible that he's having some sort of allergic reaction.
Could also be some sort of arthritis or something that reacts negatively to certain metals.

Trade it off on a gold wedding band and see if the reaction is the same?
Some stores will take rings back...some won't. Doesn't hurt to try.

I know many people seem to have problems with titanium implants, so I would say that anything is possible.
