Upper Chest Pain After Taking Certain Medications

My daughter is now having quite severe upper left chest pain after taking medication for menustral cramps today.  She took ibuprofren and later acetimenophtn.  What could be causing this?  She has has this same type reaction 2 times before this and we have taken her to the emergency room.  The first time they said it was from the Mucinex, an over the counter medication she was taking for sinus problems.  The second time, she had been to the doctor that day and was prescribed a medication.  They said this reaction was from that medication and that it was the same thing that was in Mucinex.  Today, the ibuprofren and acetimenophen she took doesn't contain the ingredients that are in Mucinex.  She is scaring me and I don't know what to do.  Is this an emergency or is she just extremely sensitive to medication?  If you have ever heard of this or can give me any advice, I would appreciate it.  She says the pain is above her heart and feels sort of like a cold, burning sensation and that it is hard to take a deep breath.  I am watching her closely for other symptoms, but she doesn't seem to have any more.  Thank you!

I have had the same thing happen to me, (actually right now) It is a cold burning sensation, worse with deep breaths. It is after taken medication. No need for er, Just have to wait it out takes a few hours to pass. Cold water, icecream kind of helps. I have tried everything. Maalox is probably the best, because it is a reflux type of thing, the med disolves to quickly. Good luck.

sorry i have also noticed that you say she has breathing difficulty.
with any medicine it will always tell you... any chest pains or breathing difficulty... shortness of breath etc you must seek emergency medical assistance.
and yes you will probably find she has an allergy with quite a few medications same as me.

it is advised on all medication that if the user gets any chest pains to seek promt madical attention.
dont want to worry you it may not be too important but you cant be too careful when it comes to medication.
After all it is supposed to help not hurt.
Go and take her to ER nearest hospital for a check.
Although it does not sound anything that bad will happen.. i had a heart attack from taking prescribed medication i now find i am allergic to many over the counter medication.

Hi,

This could be due to the reflux or gastritis symptoms associated with these medications.

It would be best to take these after her meals and to take an antireflux antinausea medication along with the pain relief medications or those known to cause reflux or heart burn symptoms.

Does she have reflux symptoms otherwise?

Do let us know if you have any doubts.

Hope this helps.
Good luck.
