Hello and hope you are doing well.

The other causes for long term cough besides asthma are GERD and post nasal drip from allergies. GERD is gastro esophageal reflux disease where the stomach acids come back into the esophagus and spill into the wind pipe causing cough. Treatment with antacids will help neutralize the acids. Post nasal drips can occur with sinusitis and throat infections. Giving up cigarettes will abolish smoker's cough in 90% of people. Talk to your GP about the other causes for cough in the meantime you could try warm salt water gargles and breathing exercises.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Magnesium chloride is a fundamental remedy that  helps with colds and coughs, respiratory infections -viral and bacterial- asthma, bronchitis and a
myriad of other conditions. Great immune booster!
It greatly increases leucocyte activity and phagocytosis in internal applications ( the destruction of microbes ) by up to an amazing 300%.
Therapeutic dose is recommended at 30 grams or about 1oz magnesium chloride in powder form of pharmaceutical or lab grade, diluted in 1L of water and consumed slowly throughout the day to avoid laxative effects.
Anyone suffering from serious kidney disease should not take magnesium.
Also anyone with low blood pressure should take half (15 gr.) and increase calcium intake.
It can be taken transdermally in the form of magnesium oil.
Just rub well on the body, wait 30 minutes and then shower.
Best, do this before bedtime as it is very relaxing and promotes sleep!
There are other remedies, but this one stands out the most and with minimal side-effects.
I have been using and recommending this for years with great results.
Should you need more details, let me know.
Cheers,
Niko
