There could be a number of possibilities, so it's best to get your granddaughter in to see a doctor. She could have alopecia, which is a common disorder (appox 1% of the population has it). Children can develop Alopecia but do outgrow it. It is best to get her to a doctor to rule out any medical conditions causing this.
