6cm ovarian cyst and effects of acupuncture

I sought the help of an acupuncturist/herbalist that was highly recommended by a number of people to help dissolve a 6cm cyst on my left ovary.  The cyst initially showed up in October '09 after a first trimester miscarriage.  I was on wait and watch.  I went for an US a month ago my OBGYN told me it had grown to 6cm and wanted to remove it laprascopically.  The only symptom i did notice after my conversation w/ my OBGYN was heaviness on the left side of my body from my hips down.  Otherwise, i'm pretty much asymptomatic...no pain and regular menstral cycles.  I wanted to try acupuncture/herbs before jumping the gun and gettin surgery.  My doc said it was okay to try herbs if i felt they would benefit me and scheduled another ultrasound in a little over one month.

Well, i went to see the acupuncturist and exactly one week after my first treatment which consisted of a few needles in my left foot/leg and my belly, I noticed that part of my left foot and left big toe was going numb.  I attributed it to the cyst which i felt may have been putting pressure on a nerve.  I waited almost 1.5 weeks and scheduled a second appt. explaining the numbness.  She said it was normal and proceeded to stick needles this time in both feet, my forearms, and belly, lower back and one on the top of my head.  I was given the herbs the same day.  The numbness dissipated after a few days but again, exactly one week later, I noticed a very slight tingling/burning sensation in my left forearm and pinky finger. The toe is much better but still slightly numb.  However, the weakness that i felt on my left side has calmed down.  I will find out next week if the herbs worked at all.  My ultrasound is scheduled for Monday.

Ultimately, i will have the cyst excised or removed it if is still there.  My question is.....will the weird sensations that i feel in my left arm and the numbness in part of my left toe go away over time without acpuncture?  I am very reluctant to see the acupuncturist again and I'm really concerned.  Although i'm not even certain at this point whether or not the herbs worked, I'm worried about the weird sensations and possible nerve irritation/damage that the acupuncture may have caused. Thanks in advance for your replies!

I would try taking protease enzymes to help dissolve the cyst.  Enzymes break down the cell walls of cysts, and help remove debris from your circulatory system.  Certain enzymes, such as serrapeptase are supposed to be especially useful against ovarian cysts.
Contact a knowledgeable nutritionist and see what they recommend.

Hi,

I have no idea about the herbs or the needles (no knowledge), but hope you feel better soon and have answers all around.  About 5 yrs ago, I had a 6cm cyst that took 3 cycles to rupture on its own .. so hang in there and maybe you'll have success (as long as your doc's say it's ok to keep it around some more time if it hasn't shrunk).
