anything for depression and anxiety?

have been suffering for 18 months with depression and anxiety after removal of thyroid for cancer.  Has anyone had any luck with natural remedies?  I am hesitant to try prescription meds.

Re: rhodiola
I found no studies regarding intake of rhodiola and serious side effects.
At 90mg twice a day, it is significantly lower, than the generally recommended
600mg daily dosage with 3%-4% rosavin, so that should be relatively safe.
Of course, there are people that react adversely to peanuts or milk.
In Europe, Rhodolia has been used (for hundreds of years) more extensively than here    with no reference of any serious issues.
It dates back to ancient Greece, where it's called "rodia riza". Also it was used in Imperial China for centuries.
Unfortunately there are very few studies in N. America
( perhaps that is a good thing).

In regards to the multi-level direct marketing of Amoryn,
where  is this information available?, as I cannot find it anywhere!
Are you perhaps confusing this with another product?
And as for the cost, $60.00 for 2 months supply, customer support, free shipping and
money back, this is a very reasonable and safe investment.
If it doesn't work, you send it back.

I'm not a distributor, nor do I have any connection with this manufacturer,
if this was the assumption, so either way it has nothing to do with me,
I just want to set some facts straight.
    Blessings to all,

Personally would be careful about the Amoryn.  It's one of those many multi-level direct marketing products that contains nothing you can't get cheaper in any good health food store, with more reliability and transparency.  My advice is to pick up a book called Natural Highs by Hyla Cass, a psychiatrist at UCLA, for a pretty good, though somewhat dated, discussion of what's available naturally for anxiety and depression.  Keep in mind that your problem may be that your endocrinologist doesn't have your thyroid hormones balanced yet with the thyroid medication I assume you've been put on.  As herbs, Amoryn contains rhodiola, which can be useful but can also cause more agitation and anxiety, as it can be very stimulating.  Careful with that herb if you're an anxiety sufferer.  My own concern would be that if it's that your endocrinologist hasn't got you balanced correctly, nothing else you do is going to be the right thing, but once that's taken care of, then there are a great many herbs and nutrients, including those mentioned above, that might help, but remember, things that help depression often exacerbate anxiety, so do your homework.

This pranayam will get you in a very relaxed state, and gradually help with the anxiety and depression. When you can do anulom vilom for more than 15 minutes, you will start to get over the anxiety.Let me know when you start to notice the benefits.Do it with concentration and with eyes closed.
Build up your timing gradually. If you feel tired or dizzy, stop and resume after one minute.
Kapalbhati pranayam -(Do it before eating) Push air forcefully out through the nose about once per second. Stomach will itself go in(contract in). The breathing in(through the nose) will happen automatically. Establish a rhythm and do for 20 to 30 minutes twice a day. Children under 15 years – do 5 to 10 minutes twice a day.
Not for pregnant women. Seriously ill people do it gently.
Anulom Vilom pranayam –
Close your right nostril with thumb and deep breath-in through left nostril
then – close left nostril with two fingers and breath-out through right nostril
then -keeping the left nostril closed  deep breath-in through right nostril
then - close your right nostril with thumb and breath-out through left nostril.
This is one cycle of anulom vilom.
Repeat this cycle for 15 to 30  minutes twice a day.
Children under 15 years – do 5 to 10 minutes twice a day.
You can do this before breakfast/lunch/dinner or before bedtime or in bed.Remember to take deep long breaths into the lungs. You can do this while sitting on floor or chair or lying in bed.

Bhramri Pranayam -Close eyes. Close ears with thumb, index finger on forehead, and rest three fingers on base of nose touching eyes. Breathe in through nose. And now breathe out through nose while humming like a bee.
Duration : 5 to 21  times.

Hey rondoo

A natural formula -non prescription- for depression and anxiety is Amoryn.
You can check it out for yourself.  It sounds like a good bet.
With a 60 day money back,$60.00 cost for 2 months, free shipping (in the U.S.), much more effective than prescription drugs, and less side effects.
( how do some of those drugs get approvals to go to market, still puzzles me! )
There are many other holistic remedies and protocols, however, easy does it.
The easier and more convenient for the sufferer, the greater the potential it will be helpful
at the end.
Should you be interested in other ones, let me know.

Blessings
