Exelon patch is on back order from the manufacturer until October 24.   What alternatives are there?

Grerat news for existing users.  If your pharmacy can't get Exelon, contact the manufacturer direct.  They will then authorize a drop ship to your pharmacy.  The pharmacy just has to call for it.

Great info, my mom did the aricept and it seem to make her worse, so after 4 months they just took her off of it, so mom took no med to help slow it down, mom got at 64 and passed at 72 with it, was bed ridden last 11 months of her life, in my home, was a very hard, long, sad, and rewarding journey with her, I was there every step of the way as she lived in my house, was it easy ,,no way but it was a Blessing for me to spend each day with mom and take care of her as she did me as a child.   Prayers for all who's going threw this God Bless you All ,,,,, Heart

Hi Ward1941.

You may want to look into Huperzine.
Huperzine is a natural  (from herbal sources) acelytcholinesterase inhibitor, but will only help with memory issues if  (1) the acetylcholinesterase is the problem ( an enzyme that controls the release of acetylcholine in the brain).
It will not work if there's (2) a deficiency of  acetylcholine precursors or if (3) the acetylcholine receptors are impaired.
The drug Aricept  (for Alzheimer's and Memory issues) and Exelon have limited efficiency as they ALSO only approach one out three possible issues with this neurotransmitter, as  primarily acelytcholinesterase inhibitor (AChEI ) drugs.
And should anyone ask about the Butyrylcholinesterase
inhibition of Exelon, "in Vivo Butyrylcholinesterase Activity Is Not
Increased in Alzheimer’s Disease Synapses!!!"
Kuhl et al: Butyrylcholinesterase in AD
Annals of Neurology Vol 59 No 1 January 2006.

Just another profit center for Novartis to my opinion.

I hope that this helps, however it is not intended as a substitute for medical advice.

Best wishes.

Exelon is the only patch. There are medications that can be taken by mouth. I work at a health care facility and we continue to get the patches. Have you checked with other pharmacies?

hi I went and looked it up its the only patch on the market , rest are pills.

The Novartis patch, called Exelon, was previously approved for patients with mild to moderate Alzheimer’s and it remains the only federally approved patch for the disease. The three other FDA-approved Alzheimer’s drugs also target symptoms only, but come in capsule form
