5.2 cm Aneurysm

Hello Every body. Aorta Aneurysm
I'm supposed go into the hospital July 17 to have it removed from my lower aorta. Right now it is measured 5.2 to 5.5cm.Also, I have a bad heart. I'm taking heart meds . MY EF is 22% to 25% and one working artery and my average blood pressure 100-58 bp67. Just had a ICD placed in my chest.

It hasn't been decided if I'm going under the knife, or having stints put in.
Has anyone had the operation, How long is the recovery in the hospital and when you went home.
Has anyone just had the stints put in and whats recovery time on them.

Thanks in advance for your reply.

My husband had the stents for an abdominal aortic aneurysm and one in his iliac artery.  The surgery took  about 2 hours, he was in ICU overnight, went home the next day and went back to work in 2 weeks.  He couldn't lift anything over 5lbs for a month.  He had some soreness and fatigue for several weeks after the surgery but basically recovered well from it.  It is much easier and faster recovery than the open repair if you can go that route.

His surgeon prefers to do the stents if possible because it's much less invasive and an easier recovery.  I think where an aneurysm is determines if a stent can be placed and how difficult it would be to deploy the stent.  The stent is put in the artery, it's kind of like a wire and doing a catherization, once they reach the site of the aneurysm they balloon out the stent and it seals off the aneurysm.   If the artery has lots of twists and turns they probably won't be able to deploy the stent properly and would have to opt for the surgery.  That is my understanding of the procedure

Thanks for your reply.. It  was informative. Just a couple question. I just found out that  is measured 5.6 to 5.7
Do you recall what  the size was? Also what was the determining factor on deciding putting the stunts or open the leg open and have it removed aneurysm.
