Medication Question.

I'm currently on Suboxone 8mg daily, my doctor just gave me metoprolol succ. 25mg. I've been tachycardic ranging from 110-150 so she wants to slow my heart rate and pressure but I'm terrified to take the medication because of interaction and slowing my heart too much. What do I do?

Metoprolol worked great for me used to have a heart rate of 117 sitting and 145 doing any minor task. Now my resting heart rate is 50 and doing minor tasks it is 70. Lowered my blood pressure to 110/70. it is now the only blood pressure medicine I take. Got to drop lisinopril amlodipine

Metoprolol is the tic tac if beta blockers. You’ll be fine.

It can be difficult starting a new medication, as you never know how it will how it will interact with your body or other medications. However, leaving yourself in tachycardia can also be dangerous, depending on its underlying cause and on how hard the heart has to work. When the heart beats too rapidly, it pumps less efficiently and blood flow to the rest of the body, including the heart itself, is reduced. You should discuss your concerns with your doctor as soon as possible. Perhaps your doctor can start you off on a lower dose or frequency and titrate up, though that may be not possible in your case. Alternatively, you can get an automatic blood pressure monitor to check your blood pressure and heart rate yourself to make sure they do not drop too low after starting any new medications.
