Pacman Problems

Hi I have had a pacman frog for a little over two months now and she has gone into some sort of hibernation. I cant tell if she is eating or the crickets are just digging down into the bedding and what not. She keeps her eyes shut until I change the bedding and put more water in. I checked the bottom of her out to see if she had red leg which I doubted because I change the cage more than once a month and her thighs are a very pale pink which I did not know if it was normal. I keep the tank at 81 degrees and I think she might have gone into hibernation because I thought the heating pad I had was working but it quit like the first week I had it. I use water de-chlorinator, and I just don't know what I did wrong and it is bugging me beyond belief. Any help would do wonders. THANK YOU!

Thank you for your help but I went in this morning and the pacman had died. I work at the place I bought the frog but I am in the aquarium. I am not a huge reptile guy. I just really liked the pacman.

When your heating pad failed it may have caused your frog to undergo Estivation.  When the temperature becomes too cold or too hot the Pacman frog goes into Estivation, which is a protective partial hibernation.

For a good explanation of Estivation and Care of the Pacman frog please view the following website:

I would also contact the pet shop that you purchased the frog from for information, and help with feeding and care.

Additionally, you should not handle your frog with out surgical or treatment gloves.  Your frog has a protective layer of mucous on it's skin which is easily disturbed by the oils in human skin.
