hypothyroidism

my dog is on Soloxine 0.1 bid since Feruary 2012.  Last month (June2012) I was brushing is ears, when I realized I had a big amount of fur on the brush, this has never happened.  So I called the vets for an appointment, and also if they couldrepeat his thyroid testing.  The day I was to bring him in, I had to give him his dose of Soloxine 4to 6 hours prior to the time of his appointment.  The Vets examined my dog, drew blood for the test, and said she would call me the next day with the results.  So the next day came, I called and was told that it was within the normal range. I was so happy I didn't have to go up on the dose. Well, since than I feel something at right with my dog, he urinates more frequently than ever, he seems like his loosing weight.  I don't know what to do????  If you can shed any light on this PLEASE let me know. My  two dogs are my children!!!!

Great job first off in having the thyroid tested. It sounds more like diabetes at this point. Diabetes is a hormonal disease much like hypothyroidism and has been known to effect dogs more quickly when they have other hormonal imbalances. Speak with your vet again, they will likely ask for a urine sample so discuss that first when you speak with their team members as they can help you collect a sample. Dont leave this any longer, no matter what the cause is, early detection makes treatment and a possible cure much much easier.

I thank you soooo much for taking the time to  answering my question about my  91/2yr. old toy poodle Cozmo.. I have to second guess my current Vet for not doing more testing beyond the hypothyroidism test.
I gave her all the symptoms that I visually was seeing. I don't know what to say.
Do you think that they should of did more testing beyond the hypothyroidism????
