My retrievers tounge turns pale

Hi,

I would like to know why my retrievers tounge turns pale.I give him Rantac-D as because i think its due to indigestion.
We do not really have good vets and amnities for our lovely companions and they are being trated ina trial and error method.I would really like to open a veteneary hospital in Kolkata with all modern amneties like OT,X-Ray,USG and whatever is necessary to save our most precious and treasured companion.
There is a saying in English-----"A Freind in need is a freind indeed",and this is 100% true for our freind/mentor/companion as no matter how deep you r in trouble he would try saving you without even thinking atleast once what might happen to him, wether she dies or lives? However for humans this is totally opposite.
So i urge if anyone could help me as for in Kolkata they would definitely not live if being trated by vets over here.I reall y want to start off and stop our companions to part away from us.

Thanks
Joydeep

Thanks for answering the questions I posted.

This is a tough one to answer without an examination.  My initial thoughts were you may be dealing with heart disease or maybe a bleeding disorder.  However, based on these answers, I think those two may be less likely.  I always like to hear that pets are acting normal and eating and drinking well.

If you are dealing with indigestion, I would recommend trying to feed a bland diet which it appears you may be doing.  I would stop the treats and just feed boiled chicken and plain rice.  I usually recommend making a 3 to 1 ratio with rice to chicken.  NO spices should be added.

You may need to consider adding a antacid to the regimen if this continues but I would just start with a bland diet.  If you have access to plain yogurt, I would give him some yogurt daily.  Yogurt contains a culture that is good for the intestinal system.

Let me know how this works.

As for the medical center, I am the wrong one to try to comment here.

The answers to the questions are as follows:---

1.Are his gums and tounge pale all the time.?

No,its pink/red,when he has loose motion or indigestion problem and anything related to his stomach his tounge and teeth turns pale.

2. How often does this occur?

When he has indigestion or loosee motion.

3.Does it occue with exercise?Does he tire with exercise?

No,He tires after rigorous exercise or in case if he is taken out for a stroll in the evening.

4.Does He cough?

No

5.How is his appetite?

Normal,He is hungry and eager to eat.

6 Do you see any abnormalities with skin?Red bruises

Yes,like he itches against rough surface, and his ears are red.

His Major Meal  is of 3 times---

      Morning (6:00AM)---------3 biscuits
      Morning(9:30AM)----Rice with Chicken and pappya
Afternoon(1:30 PM)---rice with chicken and pappya
       Evening(6:30PM)---2 biscuits
       Evening(7:30 PM)---Chapatis with chicken

Calcium supplement--Ostecalcium and Vi-Syneral vitamin supplement twice a day.

Let me know if this feeding habbit is correct or there should be alterations in his diet chart as well as ingredients.

Regarding my medical/Surgery center  i would like to know the cost of settong it up as in the machines required for diagnostics and also i would ask for online assistance and how we can work together.Set up is my headache however the machines and surgical equipments needed and theer total expense and above all your assistance online is a bare necessity to set up my dream care center for them. They are mostly left untreated and they die.
Please!i really need help.

Thanks for getting back to me.

I agree with Tom and I will list questions I would like to know to help me answer this question:

1.  Are his gums and tongue pale all the time?
2.  How often does this occur?
3.  Does it occur with exercise?  Does he tire with exercise?
4.  Does he cough?
5.  How is his appetite?  Normal or abnormal.
6.  Do you notice any abnormalities with his skin?  Bruising? Red spots?

As you can see, there is no simple explanation for what is happening.  Unfortunately, a good physical examination would be great but I understand may not be possible.  I wish I could help with how to go about opening a Medical and Surgical Center in your area but I would not know how to begin in India.

Thanks.

Hi there...just to follow up with what Dr. Hurley asked:

How often does this happen and what is your pet doing immediately before these occurrences?

Are his gums and tongue pale all the time?

If you can help by answering those questions, we can probably get better information for you!   Thanks!
