kitten's head smashed by door

My daughter was closing the door that leads to our garage, when our five week old kitten tried to squeeze through and the heavy door closed on her head.  My nine year old daughter was in tears while she explained what happened.  We don't have the money to take the kitten to the vet, so we have been trying to nurse her back to health by feeding her with a syringe.  When she walks, she topples over, mainly to her right side.  Her left eye is cloudy and it seems as if she can longer see out of that eye.  It has been about a week since the accident.  For the first few days, she could only drag herself and her head was tilted to one side.  I was afraid her neck was broken, but she can now lift it even though she still favors one side.  She tries to walk, but ends up tipping over and walking in circles.  Do you know what may be wrong with her?  Can the head trauma cause blindness?  If I do scrape up enough money to take her to the vet, will it help her condition?  She hasn't had a bowel movement only pee.  Please help!  I'm afraid she may need to be put down, but I'm pleased with her progress.

don't own a pet if you can't afford the care, it is no different then having a child.  If it means surrendering the animal to a foster home to take care her and get her to a family that can afford to care for her then so be it.  But it is pure cruelty to attempt to care for an injured kitten because you can't afford to take her to the vet.

It is actually against the law not to get the kitten assistance and you could be charged with animal neglect and abuse. I had a similar issue but we didn't know what happened to the kitten only that its nose was bleeding and it wouldn't move, it could barely hold its head up, etc. We took him to the vet and his skull was fractured and his brain was swollen he had an enormous lump on his head and even though I didn't wait to get him assistance I was still threatened with animal abuse/neglect charges. Sad to say he died shortly there after.

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Go online or go to a vet's office and apply for CareCredit.  CareCredit is an interest free or very low interest credit card that can only be used for medical, dental, or veterinary care.  If you are not eligible than you should try to scrap to some money together somehow and take the kitten to the vet.

There may still be some hope since she is still alive and seems to show a bit of improvement.  She will need steroid therapy to try to reduce the inflammation in her brain.  She will also need a variety of other medications, diagnostics, and other therapies.  If you are unable to do any of this than perhaps it would be best to release her to a no kill shelter where she will receive necessary veterinary treatment and will have a chance to be adopted by someone who can afford veterinary care.
