Afraid of Dying

For the past couple of months, I've been afraid of dying. I went to the ER thinking I was having a heart attack. They did EKG and blood work. My heart is fine. Then I went to my family doctor and she confirmed my heart was fine. I was given Prozac for anxiety and depression. That's what the doctor thinks I have. I don't take it cause I feel bad when I take it, so I stopped taking it. I'm only 16 years old. So I know it's unlikely to have a heart attack at 16, but i'm still scared. Everyday is miserable cause I think I will drop dead at any second from a heart attack. I'm very scared to go to sleep cause I think i'll die or catch a heart attack while i'm sleeping. I'm 5'8 over 300 pounds and not in good shape either, so that plays a factor in my worries to. My big problem is I look up all my syptoms on the internet and get even more scared. My anxiety is making me crazy every little ache and pain in my body I think i'm having a heart attack. I'll have chest pains, werid numb feeling in my left arm, and I get very dizzy and lightheaded like I will pass out. Another big fear is I have very bad breathing problems and I had them before cause i'm a big guy, but with the anxiety it makes me feel like i'm about to stop breathing.

Sorry this was so long but im afraid and i'm not living life right now. I have a full life a head of me and i'm not living it. I always worried about very hard to breath, heart attack checking my pulse 50 times a day. I can barley get a couple hours of sleep in. I'm drained mentally my brain is always in "fight or flight" mode. Can someone tell me if this is just anxiety and depression or I may have some life threating thing wrong with me. Also my resting pulse is anywhere form 95 - 105 is there something wrong with me or that's just cause i'm very big dude and my heart has to work faster.  Thank You very much

It's really not a good idea to spend so much time on the internet looking up symptoms. It can make your anxiety worse. You've been checked out and your heart is fine.
It's really not uncommon for we anxiety sufferers to worry about our health.
How long ago did you start Prozac? It can take a little while to start working so hang in there.
If you want to lose weight the best thing to do is start taking walks. It will help your anxiety and also help you feel better and lose weight. I'm not sure where you live but where I live it's been very cold outside so you might want to go to the mall a few times a week and walk there.

You should talk with your doctor about medication. Tell em you stopped taking the prozac because the way it made you feel.  they can best advise you to continue to take it, or switch up the meds... Prozac doesn't work overnight... Takes 6-8-10 weeks to fully kick in.

Have you thought about getting into therapy for your anxiety? Meds can really help, that's true. But therapy can really do wonders along with meds or without them.

You shouldnt feel alone because all of us anxiety sufferes know exactly how youre feeling my anxiety started the same time and i even missed school for 3 months wouldnt eat anything just wanted to be in bed all day couldnt sleep without the lights on it was terrible but you know what believe in yourself that you can over come this you control your mind your mind doesnt control you and whenever you have an attack instead feeling scared face it let it flow and just try speeding your breathing intakes close your eyes and relax and tell yourself your okay and overall pray and have faith in god that youll get better well i hope i helped and realize youre too young were too young to be dealing with this and my best advice do it on your own without meds my dad has taken them for years and now he cant stop using them because they have become his comfort zone but when youre out of pills what most likely youll have another attack thinking you ran out of them so might as well not take them rite sorry this was long i just really hope this helped may god bless you and i hope you get better =)
