2 days of Zoloft use

My doctor gave me Zoloft because i've had a pannick attack.
After 2 days of Zoloft i could not stand the side effects.
24/7 Dizziness, shaking, heart palps, ...

I took those 2 pills in february (2/2 and 2/3)
I stopped using Zoloft so i took just 2 pills of 25mg
Problem is that i'am still so dizzi i can't get out of bed .
Could that Zoloft destroyed something in my brain?
I don't know what to do.
My doctor says its because i am affraid.

Well it happened to me and I am suffering NOW worse than I did in the beginning. I can't get out of bed, etc. I didn't have that BEFORE I started. I did not EVEN have any of these things. I stopped after two days BECAUSE I noticed a big change in myself. I hope you're better. It plays tricks on you. I should have NEVER TOOK IT. My depression is now worse. I cannot stay in bed WAITING FOR IT TO WORK. Ya right.

Thanks, maybe i will try Dramamine.
I'am currently taking fishoil tabs.

I know i've got to overcome this again.

But i've found people on the internet that had a adverse reaction from an ssri after just 1 or 2 pills.
There are also stories about the lack of serotonine in the brain due to a physical problem that causes anxiety and other symptoms.

I've used Zoloft before in 2007 for 14 months and in 2011 for 12 months and everytime i stopped using Zoloft my original problems sinds my anxiety attacks at work came back.
That's why i think this longterm use of Zoloft did something wrong and made me depended on them from now on.

(Sounds stuppid but that's my greatest fear, sinds i've found all this articles about ssri discontinuation syndromes and other ssri related problems.)

I want to fight back and use the same techniques as i did before but i must lose this fear that there is something gone wrong in my brain.

Thanks
Jason

Jason...again...

Jason, you've worked to overcome this before, and were successful, you can do it again, you just need to reemploy all of those same coping techniques you used! .

You have to just start doing the things you KNOW worked to help your anxiety.  Have you asked your doc about trying a med for vertigo, just to see if it would help any?  Sometimes, motion sickness meds, like Dramamine, can help minimize dizziness, even when it is caused by anxiety.  It's worth a shot...talk to your doc.

I really think the only connection the Zoloft has here is an anxiety-induced reaction that is lingering. I don't think that small amount of Zoloft did anything to you, especially because the symptoms were present before you ever took it.

How can i overcome this now while i am so dizzi.
It was difficult enough before those Zoloft pills.

Even when i blow out a candle i get even more dizzi.
If this is because the Zoloft made my central nervous system more sensitive there is nothing i can do about that.

I do hope so.

But this dizziness is so strange.
When i turn my head in bed it feels like my head keeps spinning or if i come out of bed for an hour i get tired and the floor seems to move under my feet.
Sometimes i can feel myself falling when i am in bed.

I don't know why feelings are so amplified sinds the Zoloft.

I scares me.

I'm going to be the dissenter here and say that if you never had these symptoms before it probably is the Zoloft

I would agree, but he DID have those symptoms before, they are just worse now.  That's why he was Rx'ed the Zoloft in the first place...

"That's one of the reasons i started Zoloft, because i have this dizzi feeling sinds 2007 after a major panic attack due to caffeine abuse and stress at work.
I have done every test imaginable and everybody keeps telling me i am fine.
Does this seem normal? "

I'm going to be the dissenter here and say that if you never had these symptoms before it probably is the Zoloft -- I trust your instincts.  These drugs are very powerful and affect people differently.  I would expect this to pass fairly soon.  But if you only had one anxiety attack -- if that's true -- then you're right, it was way too soon to turn to medication.  You would have been better to try therapy and relaxation techniques first if you needed to try anything.  Doctors are very quick to put you on meds  sometimes, but it's your decision in the end.  When this discomfort ends, and due to how short your stay on the med was I'd expect it to very quickly, then you should plan out a more thought out strategy for dealing with what may have been a one and done situation or may be something you can get control of as you're getting to it early in the process without the need for meds.  Good luck.

Hey Nursegirl (and the other people to) , thanks for your help.
I do appreciate it.

I had a verry bad lifestyle, always pushing myself to please other people.
Never took a moment to rest.
Always wanted to be loved by everyone.
I didn't know the meaning of the word Assertive.

There was a moment in my life (2007) i would just use Red Bull instead of  breakfast.
This is where it all started.

The things i did to cure myself.

I've stopped being a perfectionist, for example i don't care about a scratch on my watch or car like i used to do.
I also stopped being a neat freak in the house.
This all helps me pretty much.
I am also doing breathing excercises because i am sometimes overbreathing.
I was verry agoraphobic sinds my panic attacks in 2007 but i managed to get rid of that.
My agoraphobia was gone in a day, after years of suffering.
I said to myself, the hell with it, if i am gonna faint, so be it, i am not gonna stay at home forever and i started doing things you might call exposure therapy.

The reason i was rx'ed Zoloft is because i had a mild panic attack during exposure therapy and i ran like a baby to my doctor.
I didn't need it, it was just a litle setback but i was scared my problems would com all back like in 2007.

I overreacted and wish i never ran to my doctor, i was doing fine.
I was able to go shopping alone again, driving my Jeep alone again, i started working again as a volunteer.
And i did all that without any drugs.

Now i can't stay out of my bed for 10 minutes because of this dizziness sinds those 2 little pills.
I know my brain is not damaged but i am scared that they did something to my cns that this dizziness will never stop.

Now i hope it can be repared without pills like i did before, because i want my life back.
Some doctors i've contacted told me this could be from the Zoloft and it would be better in a few weeks or months.
I really hope so

Sorry for the length of this one but so you have a better idea of my situation.

Kind regards
Jason

Also, just a little fact that might make you feel better.. I used to be afraid of fainting and my anxiety was centered around that and truth is you really don't pass out from a panic attack because when you are panicking your blood pressure actually rises and in order to pass out your blood pressure would have to drop.. Made me feel better it might help you.. I think you might benefit from researching a little about anxiety so you can understand it a little better! You'll learn it cannot hurt you , just feel crappy!!

Anxiety can make you think you are dying! It's amazing how powerful your mind is.. I would really suggest trying to stick with the zoloft.. Maybe your doctor can prescribe you something until it starts to kick in and make you feel better... If all those tests came out ok it is anxiety I'm sure! You will be okay. Antidepressants can give you your life back.. But I think therapy along with them is best! Good luck!!!!!!

It may not seem "normal", but it is par for the course for anxiety.  It's amazing how intense the physical symptoms of anxiety can be.

The thing that you said that stands out the most is the fact that you had the dizziness before you ever took the Zoloft.  That indicates it is anxiety. That's why you were Rx'ed the Zoloft in fact.   Also, the fact that you've been thoroughly evaluated by doctors and had tests done also indicate that this is a culprit of anxiety.

What else have you done to address the anxiety?  Therapy of any kind?  Lifestyle changes?  There are lots of things you can do to start addressing the anxiety.

How can one become this dizzi from just anxiety?
Its not vertigo but more a fainting feeling, just like i am falling all the time, it doesn't matter if i am lying down, or sitting up.
It's always there and it's driving me crazy.
After the Zoloft in february it became 10 times worse.
That's one of the reasons i started Zoloft, because i have this dizzi feeling sinds 2007 after a major panic attack due to caffeine abuse and stress at work.
I have done every test imaginable and everybody keeps telling me i am fine.
Does this seem normal?

I agree with the other posters, Zoloft is well out of your system by now. One of the things when starting zoloft is it can make your symptoms worse for the first week or so and people try to just get through it because the end result can be life changing. I have been on it for 13 years and am very happy with the results.

Its not for everyone though. Talk to your doc about other treatment options

The zoloft didn't destroy anything in your brain.  Most likely, your symptoms are from anxiety.  When you were experiencing the side effects, did you talk to your doctor, or did you just stop taking the Zoloft?  Have you tried any therapy?

You need to continue to follow up with your doctor about the anxiety, to find a way to get it to a manageable level.

Hi, I could be wrong but are you sure this is just not anxiety from taking the meds. I dont want to dismiss everything as anxiety but for people with anxiety it can be very scary to take new meds...
