Anxiety/Depression

Hi guys,

So I wanted to post here about some problems I've had to get some advise, particularly from UK or Irish users.

I started university last September and have been suffering with bad anxiety since then. As a result I've struggled to make friends and have felt totally isolated there. The only time I really talk to anyone is when I'm home for the weekends where I have family and friends. I went to counselling in December for about four weeks with no benefit. This has resulted in me experiencing serious stress. Stress has affected my ability to concentrate which has affected my studies. If I passed my exams this month, it was marginal at best.

I have been back at counselling for the last two weeks and I've been told to continue with coping techniques which haven't been effective at any point over the last year. I won't be able to return to counselling until July due to a conveniently placed 5-week placement starting next Tuesday.

I also to my doctor a few weeks back and was advised to go back to counselling.
I've made another appointment with my doctor today but won't be seen for over two weeks.

Sorry about the long post but I feel totally hopeless and depressed. The help I have recieved to date has been ineffective and I won't get any more for quite a while.

I wanted to ask if anybody here has any advise on what to do in regards to other treatment options. Would I be able to get an emergency appointment on the NHS for anxiety and depression?

Any advise is appreciated.

Thanks, Conor.
