Anxiety... please help?

Hi, I suffer with bad anxiety. As of right now I can't stand the major that I'm in at college (psychology). It brings a lot of stress on me, and tbh it's not fun anymore. I have chosen to change my major to something were I KNOW I can handle/fun, which is journalism. I'm nervous to tell my family about the change that I'm doing in fear they will laugh or tell me that it's stupid, and to pick a more better major. My sister was in journalism, but didn't like it so she changed to social work. I'm scared to tell her about it the most, as she is VERY mean. She'll think I'm copying her. I don't know what to do, I'm nervous. I don't want to fail, the only people that might be okay with it is my mom and my grandmother. As of right now my Aunt is paying for me to go, but most of it is paid for by financial aid. But once I'm out of college my Aunt wants me to pay all the money back to her. PLEASE advice thanks!

I comment only on college major consideration.

It makes no sense to major in something you don't like, as that will lead to lower grades and make it even more difficult to find related work, work that considers your degree essential for the job.   You need a good paying job if you are going to pay your aunt back for student loans.

I am not in the "know" but I think journalism will offer more employment potential than does psychology.

Stop worrying about what your sister will say, you are making decisions for you, not for her.  She should not be making decisions for you.

Hi, anxiety can be bad and lead to bad life choices. The kind of anxiety you live seem to be low, I don't want to diminish your condition, but at least you can get out of your house, go to the university, ok you have some anxiety but for now it's not as bad to prevent you to get out and seek for some help!!! I think that of your anxiety is so bad for you; why not see a psychologist and do a therapy? You can also ask your Doc about effective treatment option to help you and control a little bit more your anxiety?

My last advise is to study in the program that you like and not study in a field that you don't enjoy because everyone around you think it's better for you... You have to think about you and be selfish once in a while...

Take care!!!

My daughter is also a college student and Magnesium helps her d- stress.
RDA of Magnesium will be 3 caps as per directions on the bottle. It will help you relax, sleep better, worry less and many many more.
I have her take Mg Glycinate as its intestinal friendly, no diarrhea side effect unlike Mg Oxide. SEARCH on You Tube : Magnesium Deficiency Symptoms , Dr Dean, it will add base knowledge to your Major studies.
