Being alone

Does anyone have a panic attack when they are alone and you're in unfamiliar surroundings? You want to run but there's no where to run.
I've tried meditation but it doesn't work like i had hoped. I try to stay focus but i feel like i'm out of my body.

I was thinking about the alone issue. I used to stick to my husband like glue, he couldn't go anywhere without me and then I would panic with him in stores etc. I just realized how far I have come with that. I am not always perfectly cumfortable but am ususally not bothered with being alone now. I guess it just lost focus for me cuz I didn't even realize how far i had come with that until you asked. I can refocus my attention now and not dwell on the fact that i am alone, wow! how cool is that!?!!?!?

Hi Dahlia,
Isn't this a wonderful place?  I used to feel all alone too.  And I still feel out of control, but, hey, at least I'm not alone, right?  We're here whenever you need us!  Jen

Thank you all so much for you help and understanding. I wouldn't wish anxiety and panic disorder on anyone but it is nice to know that people understand what you're going through. Most of the time you can feel so alone and somewhat like you're losing control. thanks to all.

Oh yes, I know that feeling.  Same thing happens to me.  Meditation takes a while.  Had you been doing it for long?  It took at least a month, maybe 6 weeks, for it to start working for me.  And then it helps me with being able to calm myself down pretty quickly and helps with just the generalized anxiety that I feel all day.  It certainly doesn't take the anxiety completely away, but life is better with meditation than it is without it.  Let us know how you are!  Jen

Anytime. It can be very hard when the people around you do not understand. A forum like this can be such a wonderful thing to be able to talk to others that feel the same way.
I hope that you will feel better not having to work 16 hour days. That would be enough to stress anyone out!

I use to all the time as well. I am not sure if I would now or not as my husband and I stick very close together.  I think that I likely might. I hate being alone. I have three kids and I am so terrified that something will happen to me or something. Eventually I had to adjust as he worked over an hour away and worked 14 hour days at times. So I was alone alot. I used meditation and relaxation music and eventually learned to be ok.
I hope you find something that helps.

I found that having music or the tv on helps when I'm at home. When I'm out and alone and I feel anxious ill call a friend or family member and talk to then. It helps me feel not as alone and helps keep me more calm.

I used to all the time, it is so hard not to run. You do have to focus on what is real. What you can see hear feel. It does take practice alot of practice and the breathing techniques from meditating. It really does get better with practice and time.
