Breathing troubles?

Hiya guys, just a another quick question. I've been on my citalopram just under a week and 2 days. I've been having some dificulty breathing properly my chest feels tight, stuffy and i find myself taking shorter breaths or deep ones followed with a racey or slow heart beat. i've been on this medication before but, it just seems strange is this a reaction to it?, i've never had this before

You need to report this to your doctor just to be on the safe side, he will know what to do.  Sometimes we have to try a couple different medications before we find the one that works best for us.  This may just be part of the adjustment period on the Citolopram, but you need to always report any side effects or new symptoms to your prescribing doctor.  You're smart to question this, and trust in your doctor.  Hope this helps and take care.

Hiya Kim!, very true, side effects come with a lot of medications as part of getting better, in my experience citalopram is the worst for it!, i'm going to give this another a day or two, if it dosn't seem to get any better its off to the docs!

Thank you for wishing me luck, i'll need it :)

If you did not have these symptoms before you were put on this medication i urge you to go back to your gp. The symptoms that you are describing sound like generalized anxiety to me but as im sure you are aware there are side effects with most medications you take. Most are just mild e.g headache, dry mouth. Side effects usually disappear within a week or 2 so you can either try to put up with these unpleasant feeling or go back to your gp. Personally i would go to my GP even if its just for peace of mind. Good Luck.x
